Friday Evening Babblings

Friday already! It is funny how some weeks speed by and others seem to go so slowly they are going backwards. It has been a joy having another adult in the house to help out and hang out with. Today I was basically stuck to the couch, it seems like Emanuel is going through another growth spurt, not only is he eating almost constantly but he has only wanted to cuddle with me, so having Kathy here was a God send.
Last night we managed to get some shopping done and even went out for a quiet dinner at Boston Pizza – just us girls… and Emanuel of course. So I got my Cinderella movie. That’s one off the list. Kathy bought Whisper of the Heart and My Neighbor Totoro. We watchd them both last night. I am definately going to want to get My Neighbor Totoro for when the boys get bigger. It is absolutely adorable. We picked up the twins’ 2yr picture from Superstore and did some rearranging with the pictures on the walls. Ken wants me to take some down instead of putting more and more up. He can be a bit of a spoil sport
We are going to the city next week for a Dr’s appointment and then some shopping. It seems so weird to not be making regular trips in. By the time Emanuel was born we were in the city once a week seeing my doctor. This time we need to cram all of our shopping into the one afternoon. I am looking forward to finally getting Emanuel’s scrapbook… then the next time Kathy comes to visit she can give me some advice on my pages – she is a scrapbooking whiz. I want to actually keep up with his book the first year… I am so far behind on the twins’. I need to sit down and go over their first year and see what events I want to cover and then go through the many hundreds of pictures and pick out the best ones to print out. I love digital prints.
Tonight Ken has opted to play WoW – alot of the guys in Minnesota are still playing. He has offered me a choice – a new WoW subscription or Kingdom Hearts 2 when it comes out. His gift to me for Emanuel’s birth. I am really leaning to KH2. WoW is just a little too much of a time commitment, plus Ken has my old account with my high level character on it that took FOREVER to get to that level. I loved Kingdom Hearts 1 … one of the only PS2 games I have ever finished. I guess the release date for KH2 is March 28.
Well I am actually enjoying a moment away from Emanuel, he gets so warm when he sleeps it is nice to cool down a little while someone else cuddles him for a bit… so I should get working on one of my many other projects that are half done…

Apples and Oranges

Thursday already! Time sure flies when you have someone over to chat with. It has also been a very busy week. We did make it to taxes yesterday and are getting a refund this year YAY! Last year we had to pay a large chunk to the government.
Twin group was a go last night as well. We had a new family and everything, more identical twin girls – Corinn and Faith who are 4 years old. Also there was their little brother Cael (I love the spelling, he is 7 months old). Ken was ecstatic, not only did their father come… but Jocelyn’s (she also has identical twin girls 4 months younger than ours – Cassidy and Kayla) husband also came for the very first time! Over the past year I think the husband of the lady who started the group has come once, maybe twice. So Ken has felt a little like the sore thumb… not that he does not enjoy playing with the kids, they all love him.
This meeting we actually got around to sitting all the sets of twins down (all 4 sets) and taking a group picture! We are the only ones with boys and the only ones who did not dress our kids alike or the same that day. We have also decided to try and get two meetings a month planned – maybe we will get more families if we have a Monday date as well as our usual Wednesday and once spring and summer are here we are going to try and plan more extra events. Maybe we will even have another set of boy twins or even a set of boy/girl twins join… or the family that had the triplettes this year – once they get used to their new family.
I picked up Emanuel’s annoucement cards yesterday. They are wonderful so watch your mailboxes – once I get them all filled out we are going to start mailing them out. Walmart randomly throws in sheets of pictures that you can buy for a pretty decent price and this time they had thrown some in our envelopes. Of course I caved and bought them, It only cost a little over 20.00 to get two oversized wallets of each shot along with a 5 slot matt to put them in. I am such a sucker when it comes to pictures, if it is a cute shot my first reflex is to buy a sheet.. I guess that is why Ken always sticks to me like glue when we make the decisions on what we are going to buy. This time I was really good and only got the free 8X10 and 100 cards we needed.. and then those extra pictures after the fact.
Tonight Kathy and I are ditching the big boys with Ken and going out to do a little shopping. Emanuel gets to tag along of course. I am looking forward to a little girl time outside of the house. I am still on the look out for a nice outfit for Emanuel for Easter and now that he is a little bigger we may have some more options.
I guess I have to force myself to sit down and fold all the clean laundry the twins were kind enough to spread all over the livingroom floor. I have attatched a picture of the "Apple Hat" and of course the row of twins (Zander is in red, Gavin cream)….

Snips and Snails and Puppy Dog Tails….

I am surrounded by boys… adorably frustrating boys. Even with my friend Kathy here helping during the day they run the gambit from adorable to little demons. However I DID get an hour and a half nap!!! It is amazing how just knowing there is someone else in the apartment who will deal with the twins when they wake up from their nap I can sleep through all their noise.
It has been wonderful having someone around to chat with and even cross stitch with. She is also working on a massive Wentzler. Reminisce about our time at AUC back when it was not affiliated with the U of A. We have not been able to get together since my babyshower last November. Now that she is down to one day job we should be seeing her alot more often.
Tomorrow is TAX DAY! Hopefully we get a decent return, you know pay some bills, put some on the credit cards. We also get to pick up Emanuel’s birth announcements from Walmart… and by lunchtime I should know if we are going to a twin group meeting at the indoor playground.
The Language Assessment did not go horribly, but we really will not know results until much later. We ARE on the waiting list to get in to a therapist – but apparently the list is VERY long. We were given "propoganda" about that 10 week program – The Hanen Program which we simply cannot swing with out busy and practically unplanned spring/summer schedule. I did request the illustrated guidbook: It Takes Two to Talk: A Parent’s Guide to Helping Children Communicate from the library. Unfortunately if we do like this resource we cannot order it from Chapters, only their website so I am going to search around for a used copy or a cheaper one. So if anyone is getting rid of a copy….
I received some wonderful mail yesterday – a package from Minnesota and one from the UK! My friend Shandai made Emanuel an adorable little hat. It looks like an apple! I will definately take a picture right away (they grow so fast) and post it on the site. From the UK one of the twin moms I chat with online (Anne) was sweet enough to send me some Classic Winnie the Pooh stuff she purchased at a Pooh Corner in Hartfield, England. I was looking for something I could use as wall decorations over Emanuel’s crib (he has the Target Classic Pooh cribset) so she sent me some postcards, thank you cards and even some window decals added to that she sent us the most wonderful book – a Winnie-The-Pooh Magic Wheel book where you tug on a ribbon and it changes the picture. Marvelous!!! When we finally make it to England I really want to go visit that area.
Seeing Kathy again has re-awoken my wish to move to Airdrie… now I know this is not reasonable RIGHT NOW but someday I would love to move there. It is close to Calgary where she and Esther and a large chunk of the Reinsch clan live, but still more affordable. Someday maybe, but I do miss seeing alot of these people. That is another reason it sucks to live in a college town – or at least the town you went to college in, people graduate and leave. Camrose is merely a stepping stone in life for alot of our friends, certainly NOT a final destination. We just haven’t left yet….
Well, speaking of friends and visiting that is what I should be doing right now.. One week long pajama party… right ???
