2 1/2 Birthday Party

Today was the twins’ 2 1/2 Birthday Party. We kept it rather small with only one other kid invited – our god-daughter Isabella Den Otter. Grandma Anna and her boyfriend made a brief (rushed) stop off before they left for camping and the twins did NOT have their nap (which meant they crashed early and we had to wake them up for cake and a little play and then back to bed). We gave them the wagon which went over VERY well… as did our ride to the park (Zander cried when we got home – he wanted to stay and play longer). The twins even had a tiny piece of cake – no wheezing that we could see so maybe the egg allergy has been grown out of ??? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
Emanuel did rather well too – sitting in the stroller like a big boy though he did pass out on the way home and lean against the tray leaving a rather red forehead for a while. We still have a ton of cake left over and Gavin’s godmother Christine to visit with on Monday. It was so nice to have friends over.
My mom and Ken cut the twins’ hair last night too – so they look pretty good for a first attempt! And we did not have as big a fight as we do at the salon.
I have around 300 pictures to go through – most of then half good half kid moving out of the way… the apartment still needs some tidying but it is pretty nice. Next big thing – THE IN-LAWS ARE COMING… THE IN-LAWS ARE COMING !! hehe

Summer Lovin’ … How Long Ago Has THAT Been???

You know it always shocks me a little when I talk to a single or childless friend/couple how long it has been since I have been able to "do whatever"… you should see my list of travel needs and that is JUST me and the baby!
Well it is official – we are going to have to junk the van and get a "new" one. Another expense has sent Ken to talk to his supervisor about raises. Fingers crossed and prayers said that this will lead to a much needed raise! Apparently Ken is getting (they figure) 10thou a year less than he is really worth… course in my mind he is getting paid a fraction of his worth – no one can actually afford how wonderful I believe my hubby to be – trite but true.
The twins are fighting naps and bedtime tooth and nail still… if only we were not on the 2nd floor of a 3 story building I would let them cry it out more. You give and inch to these two take a mile and a half. Gotta love them or else I fear I would go insane LOL. Oh well I may lose some of the battles but I WILL win the war.
I have decided to take Thursday for some "me" time. Emanuel and I are going to take a nice walk (now that my foot no longer pains me) downtown. I need to get another Taggie boardbook. I have actually made each of the twins a taggie blanket though I made it a little late and they never really played with them. Emanuel’s is all pinned and ready to be sewn I just need to get out the machine. Ken should be helping me tonight … I hope! They are rather pricey to buy.
Other than the van and the twins being naughty life is pretty good. Hopefully we will get our sattelite dish this week YAY.

So When Does Life Get Easy ?

Well, the van is not driveable right now, the twins are being full blown 2 and I am working on lack of sleep and breastfeeding hormones… what does all of this mean? Lisa is feeling a wee bit weepy.
Ken is taking the van into be looked at tonight, I am starting pumping this week to freeze up some milk for emergencies or use with cereal, and the twins – well we are letting them live … for now LOL JOKING.
We had to borrow a vehicle from Ken’s boss Saturday to get to the city to do shopping and meet up with Karyn and the Den Otters for a dinnerdate. It turns out that for a family with 3 kids a Pacifica just is NOT big enough! We did not have the room for strollers, luckily we were planning on getting an umbrella stroller for my flight in October so we did not have to tow a carseat around. He actually liked being in the stroller and looked VERY cute. We also got the twins’ wagon and I was able to get a couple of very cute nursing tops. I still need to get shoes for my trip but I overdid it wearing a favorite pair of 2/3 inch heeled boots and irritated my foot. I got gout almost a decade ago using an acne medication that did NOT work DANGIT … I have had 3 kids and gout felt way worse!!! Once you have it once the crystals that build up never totally go away and all that walking in heels when I am used to comfy (and not so cute) sandles irritated them. But I so wanted to wear my favorite long pants LOL. So with the van out of order and a twin group meeting on Wednesday I am babying my foot with the hope that I will be able to walk the 4 blocks or so without pain.
Naptime has become a struggle, don’t get me wrong the twins NEED IT but they fight it tooth and nail. If only they would talk… listen better… Oh well with time… right? Right?
