Life in General

The weather had taken a turn for the worse this week. I am hoping it shapes up by next Wednesday as we are supposed to have Twin Group out at one of the local parks. Fingers crossed.
The twins are still not talking though Zander almost says Ball! They had their first evening at Grandma Anna’s without us yesterday. The boys seemed to handle it rather well… definately wore them out. Next week they are there on the Tuesday since Wednesday is group. It was nice to hang out with the oldest and youngest of my boys… so quiet! We got some shopping done as well. Now all we have to do is clean out the old van and get rid of it… hopefully this weekend.
Ken and all 3 boys have been sick this week. Some sort of flu bug… definately NOT fun. However we did start Emanuel on solids on Wednesday. He is not taking to them much – we are just giving him a taste after his breakfast of breastmilk. Right now he would rather play with the spoon and has seemed more fussy and spit up more so we shall see. Just rice cereal after all (mixed with breastmilk).
My trip is coming up quickly – Ken is almost definately NOT going to Germany though my mom is still helping him out and his parents are flying up for a bit. I am rather excited though still a little nervous about flying. Ken has to get our travel healthcare and a letter for Christine to notarize for permission to take Emanuel out of the country. I think I basically have everything I need for the trip.
Here is something I am REALLY proud of – all week we have not eaten out – not once. Ken is home for lunch each day and we all eat supper together. YAY we are definately saving money. We need to do something to offset the amount the van is now costing us each month.

New Van JOY :)

That’s right – a new van. We took it to the city yesterday – smooth as silk, purred like and kitten and got so cool we had to turn OFF the A/C Wheee! We had a great visit with our little god-daughter and her parents. Poor Ken was rather sick so we spent alot of time resting at the Den Otter’s.
Today was laundry day – man what I wouldn’t give to have laundry in the apartment instead of down the stairs. We so need to move. The cooler the days get the more I can see how stir crazy we are going to get – so please keep a prayer said and a happy thought for Ken while he asks for a raise. It has been a year and we are in a corner on this one. If he cannot get a nice sized raise I guess we will have to determine if he needs to work a second job or simply find a new job period. Not something we look forward to with any anticipation…
Wednesday the twins are going to Grandma Anna’s for the evening – we are going to see if that will help their speech – interaction in a different environment with someone else each week on top of speech therapy as well as give Ken and I some quiet time – Emanuel sleeps most of the evening.
3 weeks or so til I leave for South Carolina!!! Still no work on Ken and Germany…

The Twins and Their Speech

Well, Ken took them in for their speech therapy appointment. It turns out that the old addage is actually a little true – they are "too smart for their own good"! Their comprehension is too good – they really understand our complex sentances and are frustrated since they cannot answer in kind. So we basically need to dumb down our speech and put more emphasis on certain words we want them to notice. They are also VERY evasive when it comes to eye contact (could have told her that LOL)… it is their way of ignoring us. So we have to work on that too. It is a little frustrating as working on this with both of them and having the baby in the house is going to be tough. Emanuel, on the other hand, is demanding of eye contact – so we rather think we will NOT have this trouble with him… at least I can pray we don’t. Hopefully we will see results before too long and shore up our confidence. A little part of me still feels like I must have done something wrong to have them develope so. Ken says that we are good parents but I still worry… is that part of being a good parent? LOL
We don’t have an appointment next week as the woman is only in Monday to Wednesday, but the following 2 Mondays and then a third if Ken is not in Germany (nope we still don’t know).
This is a week of news – Ken’s office is FINALLY out of the basement and into a new building – I am hoping to put Emanuel in the carrier and the twins in the wagon and take them all there to meet him Friday after work. Also – we are the proud owners of a new/old van – a 2002 Grand Caravan – red. With WORKING A/C!!!! Such good news.
Of course this afternoon we get a call from our phone company that we are late on a bill – good with the bad right?
