Saturday General Busyness

Today at Rhyming group at the library the theme was winter which FINALLY seems to be coming to a close. The little baby Shelby Emanuel loves to watch was there and he played with a crayon today during crafts. I had a great time talking to a couple of the moms and one of the dads. One of the kids in the group has a nut allergy – peanuts only actually so we were talking about allergies and such (the twins and eggs). So relaxing just me and Emanuel. Next week is PJ’s! So Emanuel is supposed to come in his. I am not sure yet if I want to go with one of his sleepers or one of his new two piece pj’s I got at Walmart last month. I guess it will depend how chilly it is out.
We got our grocery shopping done today, Ken and the twins sat and had pizza – well Ken ate the pizza they played with straws. I spent just over $200.00 but we are set for the week. This Wednesday I think will just be bits and pieces and going to Walmart and maybe getting some aida cloth – they sell it by the metre! just about $13.00 a metre I think which does mean I will have to cut to suit.
We checked out the new dollar store in town – Dollarama – everything is a dollar (plus the 6% gst of course) we were surprised at some of the brand names you could get there but I still like the one I go to downtown. Stuff is more than a dollar but I can get tons of party supplies and they have a really nice scrapbooking/crafts section.
We gave Emanuel banana without mashing it, he even tried biting it right off the banana but it was not ripe enough for his two tiny teeth. He seems to be growing up in leaps and bounds. Monday we are going to let him get into the fingerpaints. Maybe if he does it the twins will finally give in and get their fingers dirty???
Well hopefully we will make it to church tomorrow – the weather is nice enough to walk but Ken’s toe is not. I have a muffin mix I want to try out in the afternoon and I am sure Ken will want to play WoW. Monday is a holiday – Family Day – so Ken will be home and hopefully over the next 2 days our room will get cleaned as well as some of our chores done. We still need to go to the storage unit and get the Learning House back out for Emanuel to play with. So much to do, so many kids and so little time!

Valentine’s Has Been and Gone…

Valentine’s Day was far from perfect – the twins were cranky and I was tired, the weather cold, the place we were to get take out from was so booked they were not taking take out orders and Ken’s pay cheque did not go through until after midnight! BUT there was some good stuff too – the twins had a blast at my mom’s and slept like logs, we got what we needed for today’s meals – I have my stew in the slowcooker as I type, we had Wendy’s drive through and plan to have our more expensive fancy take out NEXT week sometime. Ken and I even played WoW together – doing the Valentine’s Day quests and then grouping with our friend Steven and his roommate. Great fun! I didn’t die once! Of course we played way too late and I feel asleep almost as soon as my head hit the pillow – poor Ken!
We did not exchange gifts this year – just cards – but Ken budgeted enough money so we could get some chocolate and I could get a cross stitching magazine! Now I have a bunch of new projects I want to try once I get some more aida cloth. I did get the best gift of all this morning – when Emanuel woke up at 7 am Ken let me SLEEP IN ! BLISS !
No reading session today but it is almost 11 already so close to time to plan out lunch for the boys. Then this afternoon I need to fold the laundry my mom did for us and tidy up. Ken has a raid tonight and has to vacuum before it starts. His foot IS feeling better – now he can sit still without it throbbing but it still hurts after a very short time when he walks. He thinks it will be less than a month before he can return to his night shift – thank goodness.
It has definately been a lovely morning – except for the temper tantrums but that is normal. It is now -2 celcius so we should see cleared sidewalks really soon which means I can start planning walks with the kids. I want to wait to use the carrier as a backpack one until it is warm enough I do NOT have to worry about Emanuel’s face and head being exposed to the cold.
Gavin is still acting up when he poops, Ken wants to wait but I am betting by next week I will be making that appointment with the pediatrician. It is so hammed up right now it just makes me ANGRY. UGH I would love to get them potty trained but am nervous – that is something I have NEVER done before.
Here is a quote for today:
The question isn’t who is going to let me; it’s who is going to stop me.

Bubble Baths and Discworld Novels – Bliss

I highly reccommend it – a big bubbly bubble bath and a wonderful novel by Terry Pratchett … the slurpee was just the icing on the cake. It has to be that bubble bath where the bubbles seem to last forever though, where when you get out of the tub after an hour or more you are wiping them off with a towel.
Today was another one of those uneventful days… the kids are definately tired of being in the apartment but the weather is still -20 celcius or more with a ton of snow on the walks. At least tomorrow night the twins are off to my mom’s for a visit. No big Valentine’s Day plans here – just take out from the Noodle place and a picnic in the livingroom with Emanuel. It is actually NICE that Ken does not work nights right now – usually he works Wednesday nights. I got him a card from me and one from the kids. We are not doing gifts, at least not this month since we DID get that new tv (love it!) and Ken is not working those nights. How romantic huh?
So life is not exactly roses right now… the kids are grumpy, Emanuel still feeling the effects of teething and his 1yr shots, Ken is feeling crummy and me… well I would love to just get OUT -O-U-T-. Man do I miss the girls from AUC. We have quite the pile of gifts and cards for Gavin’s GodMommy – Christine. Oh for an outing without the twins. Just me, Emanuel and some of the ladies… maybe when it warms up??
Ken’s foot is still painful… he is still ok at work but not much more so he is now the official baby feeder at supper and I am trying to leave him as many chores he can do sitting down as possible so that I have the time to do the others. In my mind he cannot get better fast enough! (I kid… well sort of)
Hmm what else to babble about? Well, my friend Cathy who lives in Texas now called – it was rather nice to hear from her. They are buying a house!!! YAY Their "kids" (cats and dogs) are doing well… ummm my mom is off to Saskatchewan with her boyfriend to visit his family sometime on Friday until Monday. Thankfully that is not affecting out normal Wednesday plans (as I mentioned above).
Well.. Happy Valentine’s Day everyone. I must be tired my mind is just MUSH today!
