Ending the Week

Life is going rather slowly still as I am sure you have all noticed from previous blog entries… Although for Ken it is go go go. I honestly do not know how he does it some days and am so proud of him. On top of the contracts he has he is also bidding on new ones (that is ALWAYS on going), hunting for a van (we were VERY frustrated when last night the one individual neglected to narrow down a time Ken could come test drive and contacted the next two on the list), keeping tabs on our new rental (who in turn contacted us on Monday) and looking at OTHER rental options (we really can’t limbo much longer) all this while being daddy and husband. He really is amazing.

I have been personally dealing with the medical… Echo’s shots appointment for this month has been cancelled (chicken pox ANYTHING and baby aspirin = BAD) and a notation has been made on her file as to WHY her immunizations are delayed as well as her cardiology appointment confirmed. We have decided to postpone the ever healthy Trinity’s yearly check up until after this lovely patch of upset and all has been and gone. The same for planning Ken’s upcoming vasectomy (seriously we want to even THINK about a voluntary surgery right now? NOT).

I have done some searching through the items we HAVE brought with us and was pleased to find that I DID bring the sneakers with us, it is about time to pack the boots back up in the bag! Add to the collection the Easter sandals and we are doing rather well. I also brought summer hats and the spring coats so the boys should be just fine at my brother’s.

Spring time

Karyn and I had an epic adventure yesterday hunting for beer for Ken on our grocery/shopping for Trinity trip. It took 3 different liquor stores to find the specific brand he wanted IN BOTTLES. This was after we ran into Michaels 15 min before close to get cupcake duct tape AND closed the petfood store in our search for a big enough ball for Prickie Pie the hedgehog to run around in.

CUPCAKE!

The entire evening was rather epic really… we started off with Walmart to shop for our Trinity (not telling what we got her just yet). They have t-shirts (plain ones) for just 4.00 in her size now! She has just grown out of the 3.00 size! Then it was off to two different locations in town… one for a prize I won on Facebook from RumpArounds… an awesome wet bag!!!

Wet bag!!!

And the other an awesome Freecycle find – some computer games that are educational for the boys… including Oregon Trail (seriously I played this in school… though this is the 5th edition) and Where in the World is Carmen Sandiago? (did anyone else watch the tv show??)… YAY.

Then to the mall for supper (McD’s) and Dollarama (chocolate for Ken)…. then to Karyn’s to give the kitty his insulin and print off a few items I needed for Farmer Boy… of course that led to groceries, duct tape and the awesome beer hunt. All in all I had a lot of fun and it was KID FREE fun at that!

Epic beer

Today was back to kids kids kids… though Trinity’s brothers were nice enough to make her her very own crown!

What a crown!

Today was the chapter in Farmer Boy where the teacher has to deal with the big boys. I didn’t explain too much about the whipping that ensued but we did talk about WHY they were in trouble and what you should do to NOT be in trouble. I am hoping some of that imprints so that they think twice about the whining and fighting me over lessons.

I can share the bows I finished earlier this week as well, I cannot wait for my clips and ribbon to get here!

I do love the silver

This one is a gift

Bitty but pretty

Hopefully this weekend we can focus on some more fun time together. Ken and the kids had a run in at bedtime and that totally soured the evening. They are so frustrated right now, and with good reason… but we need them to continue to respect the adults and follow rules and instructions.

Stuff…

Organization, careful planning… comfort words for yours truly! And so I start NOW planning for next week. So far our plans have us in the city for Echo’s follow up appointment on the 25th, then to another friend’s to visit and enjoy some different faces while we wait for comic con on the 27th… AND if Holly heals up ok and is alright with 3 little boys being at her beck and call and playing with her son a visit with my little brother and his family as well as time with Kathy, celebrating Trinity’s birthday AND finally getting last year’s birthday present – said comic con adventure! Of course Alaskan Sock Monkey and Petite Sheepette will be in tow. Fat Sheep is simply TOO BIG for this one!

Today was a bit of a slow day (OMG a pattern is emerging!) but we had some high points… crafting ensued when we had an internets issue! There was a couple of birds, a ladybug and some sort of silly monster. We plan on saving these ones for our new place! As well as Gavin’s tornado he made earlier.

Crafty

I brought out the special travel marker set I got at Staples when we bought the iPad and let Trinity create something bright and shiny today as well. She does love to draw pictures, if it was not for Echo tearing them off the fridge here as fast as she makes them  I am not sure Chris and Chris could even get into it.

Trinity at work

I made up a banana cream pie mix FINALLY today… I think it turned out pretty nice!

PIE

Ken took the 4 bigguns out to run at the park this evening before supper too… what a treat! Daddy time and a park!

Running to the park

Tonight it is time to bring the glue gun back out… I will have bows to share tomorrow!! And then bed so we can assess the day’s schedule according to the time that Ken is given to go test drive the second van option. Please send out positive thoughts and prayers that this one will suit us! We need this all decided as quickly as possible to fit the full end of month schedule we are facing!

Look who found the bunny ears!!

The Holding Pattern

The snow is melting finally though the day has been overcast… wow is it sad when more than one blog entry in a small period of time starts with discussing the WEATHER… are we into the awkward small talk phase already? I think it is more that boredom has set in with yours truly… I need some sunshine and warm weather to take my family out in and I need it NOW!

We finished our Bad Kitty book and started Farmer Boy. We read the first chapter, discussed the names of characters mentioned, drew an illustration and wrote a small summary and of course copied some letters. I am hoping that we can get Chris and Chris’ printer to work tonight so that I can print off some stuff I found online but Ken has to have spare time first. He took some gaming time this weekend to lower his stress levels and now has to work harder the first half of the week to balance that out.

There are lots of chapters to read and I am sure we can find some fun ways to learn more about the book itself. We went to the Little House on the Prairie museum in Minnesota before heading home to Canada when Trinity was a wee thing. There are quite a few mini museums connected to the book series in the states (at locations mentioned), maybe when we go down to see Ken’s family we could check another one out!

Boys at work... I know Ken is looking forward to having his own work space again

I lucked out on Freecycle and am having Karyn coordinate picking up some computer games for the kids… educational and all! Apparently some people wanted ALL that the woman listed but since I was homeschooling she let me pick and choose! She wanted them to go to some family that would actually use them! Well… WE WILL! It is special things like that that make me feel all the more better about life on a rough day/week/month.

Trinity’s birthday is right around the corner (26th) and with us… displaced… we are planning to have her PARTY in May, BUT that does not change the date of her birth one bit. So the plan is to make some time one evening this week and Karyn and I go and get her something special. Nothing fancy as I still plan on making her a bigger gift for her party but something to open on HER day.

So while we have not moved mountains life keeps going. We will not be in a holding pattern forever and I am doing my best to realize that on a deeper level… positive thinking right?
