Shunosaurus

In the plains of Asia during the Jurassic period you could find roaming the earth a rather large herbivore called the Shunosaurus. Found specifically in China, it is the only known saurapod with a club on the end of its tail (probably used for defense). A number of skeletons have been recovered of this dinosaur, making it one of the best known of its species.

And now for the videos! First of all is the “live action” fight between our Shunosaurus and two Sinraptors. Quite the chase!

The second one is from the Inedine Dinosaur Show with his piece on our Chinese herbivore.

Gorgosaurus

We are always excited to find another Alberta dinosaur. This smaller Tyrannosaur was quite the carnivore and while not as large at the T Rex it was quite formidable in the face of the smaller herbivores. The Gorgosaurus was found in the Cretaceous period and had the same large head, sharp teeth, powerful back legs and shortened front arms with claws.

Our video is once again from I’m A Dinosaur. We are coming to the end of their 49 episode series!!

Pinacosaurus

We do enjoy our unique looking herbivores and Pinacosaurus is another of these. With its unusual head, armoured body and clubbed tail, this Cretaceous period dinosaur was found in one of our favourite countries… China. It is believed that is must have been a desert animal as most of the fossils have been found in sand dunes. In fact, quite a few herd type deposits have been found.

Now the I’m a Dinosaur video.
