Somebody Tell Aunt Tillie She’s Dead… Toad Witch Series, book 1

I have been all over the map with my books lately. Somebody Tell Aunt Tillie She’s Dead by Christiana Miller is a hilarious paranormal story about a contemporary witch trying to find her place in her faith and stay true to her needs and yet keep up and on the good side of main stream society. After an eviction notice from her beloved apartment the death of Aunt Tillie is an answer to a witchy prayer… well spell… though not the results she was hoping for.

As the sole heir to Tillie’s estate, Mara is on her way out of Beverly Hills to a whole new life in small town no where. The tarot cards say she is in the middle of the worst month of her life, and with her friend back in Beverly Hills, a toad as her new familiar and a ghost out to stop her from staying… Mara is in for a bumpy ride.

This first installment in the Toad Witch Series has humour, a touch of romance, good friends… crazy neighbours and a cottage that is out to protect itself! I will share the Amazon caution notice:

CAUTION: This is a story about witchcraft, friendship, loyalty, betrayal and obsession. While it has a lot of humor, it also has colorful language, demonic sex and controversial viewpoints. It’s really not suitable for children or readers who are easily offended.

I came across this series when I read a crossover book with Barbra Annino called A Tale of 3 Witches. You can read my review for that HERE. I did have some sections I kind of glossed over (re the demonic sex) but there is a reason behind it all… for the most part. I am definitely interested to see how this series plays out. The love interest was not overly central for a large portion of the book but the best friend, Gus is an absolute gem and the local very… local… If you are willing to keep a bit of an open mind and mind the caution above this just could be the book for you!

A Tale of 3 Witches… a Book Review

A Tale of 3 Witches by Christiana Miller and Barbra Annino is a short story combination of their Toad Witch and Stacy Justice series. I have reviewed two of Barbra Annino’s Stacy Justice series… Opal Fire and Bloodstone. The Toad witch series is new to me and where the story starts with young mom Mara and her roommate Gus. With a ghostly Aunt Tillie and her ghost toad, her darling baby and the complicated back story (not really touched on in this short but … I am intrigued all the same) father of the child Paul we get off to a great start.

Samhain (Halloween) is on its way and a terrible trouble has been foretold. What is a witch to do but head to Amethyst, Illinois and the B&B Geraghty Girls Guest House. I don’t want to go too far into the story but I have to say, even without knowledge previous to this for one of the paranormal series I had a great afternoon reading this one! And now want to find the first in Christiana Miller’s series and dive right in! So watch for future reviews on BOTH of these authors as I get my hands on their works!

For now, check out A Tale of 3 Witches!!!

Gnome Wars

Ok, a super fast review for a super quick read. A Barbra Annino short tale about a young man (Doug) who finds he is living with a Brownie – Leroy who is less than easy to live with. Bring in a trip to a New Age store and a young tattooed and pretty lady named Trina. Watch as he tries to rid himself of Leroy and then brings Trina into the experience. A little bit of mature language, some quick giggles and BANG more questions not answered and a definite wish to read the sequel – Gnome Wars II, though it does not seem to be released yet. I really hope the author continues to write about Doug and Trina! Be sure to check this super short and humourous read out! Gnome Wars!
