Helping With Lily Bean and Other Moments

August 7-8

We have started a new thing with the little two… they have a special story time without their brothers where we read a chapter out of their book and then they draw their favourite parts and tell me what they remember from it. We finished our first book and boy were they proud! The next book is about tiny people with tails called The Littles… am I the only one who remembers these?101_3994

We finally got around to starting our Science project book… osmosis as shown by putting gummy bears in water overnight. I am not sure how quickly we will get through the box as Science is always our hardest to keep up with, but this dollar book from Target was a wonderful find!!!101_3997

Miss Echo is still attempting sporadic potty sitting… no results but we are giving it our best!101_3998

I am so glad there are tons of Wild Kratts yet to go through. I think we have learned more interesting tidbits about animals from them then anywhere else!

Of course we ran outside and enjoyed the playset. I am sure everyone is getting tired of these, but the smiles and joy is just too precious to not capture and share!101_4006

The 7th was also Lily Bean’s surgery on her birth mark on the back of her head. It was a day surgery and went off without a hitch but it meant that Scott and Bree had a long day and were more than willing to have me come over the next day and lend a hand! We spent a nice and quiet day keeping her from rubbing her head on anything, snuggling and chatting.

This is some amazing work! The scar should be minimal and the healing already looks good!

See how well she listens to the doctor who says leave the hat on to keep from rubbing... HAH

A Fatherly Anniversary

Ok so I am behind… but Happy Belated to all you Dad types…

June 16

Yup every so often our anniversary falls on a VERY busy day… 2013 had Father’s Day AND our 12th Anniversary fall on the same Sunday.101_2567

Of course that started our day with Ken sleeping in… The kids had a special book they made for him. I came across the idea in one of the books they read for their unit (just wait until the entry with our completion and the resource entry). Every day for almost 2 weeks we talked about memories that we had about him and the fun they had with him. Each page is topped with an illustration and then the writing under about the event.

The twins worked with me and copied what I wrote out for them. Emanuel copied the title himself and then I wrote the bulk and Trinity dictated her story and title and I wrote. Echo traced her hand and gave us a scribble. Very well received.

Of course we had to take yearly photos! Ken also wanted some of me with the kids.101_2556

We also had to showcase the brand new hair cuts!101_2563

Sadly the anniversary present I ordered is not yet in but then again we aren’t celebrating until later! With Baba out with Joe and his family and Nana for a special dinner we had the house to ourselves…101_2575

and a trip to DQ for ice cream…101_2577

101_2579Then ended the night with a movie and popcorn. Not the healthiest evening of food. But I think everyone was more than content!
