Reunion Flirts!

One of the reasons I absolutely LOVE Lisa Scott’s romantic short stories is that they are like little nibbles of love, laughter and mischief. I was given the opportunity to read and review THREE of her anthologies and chose to begin with the stand alone Reunion Flirts! 5 little shorts with a taste of reunion in each one.

The characters are lovable faults and all and you are ready to root for your girl from the very beginning of the story. The common thread in this anthology is the class reunion for The Central High Class of 2002. The 10th anniversary… we start with the planning committee and go from there. There are second chances, lost romance, facing your fears and proving you are more than you were… and at the end of each nibble you feel the joy of success of a romance realized.

What I loved about this anthology is that you get a taste of truly facing your past and being AMAZING in your future. For anyone who felt less than or belittled or like they were pushed into a role in high school this is the feel good book for you! I think this is why I sat down and read this anthology in one night… these feel like real people who have gone through the wringer and gone on to become stronger. You see yourself in them and though our time with each pairing is brief it feels like you know them well when you are done. Thank you Lisa Scott for an amazing feel good series of beautiful and heart felt romances that included a few giggles along the way!

Be sure to check my OTHER reviews on some of her work HERE, HERE and HERE. I cannot rave loudly enough for these terrific contemporary romance short stories… perfect afternoon read… or all at once for a larger helping! ReunionFlirtsCollectionVol07

Flirts… 5 Romantic Short Stories

I have come across one of the stories in this book before… The Hot Girl’s Friend (reviewed HERE) and the one I believe comes after Flirts called Pickup Lessons (reviewed HERE). I love how Lisa Scott’s short romantic stories are all interconnected… each of her main characters meets up with someone from the previous, is at the wedding of the previous or somehow knows someone from one of the other stories. This is volume one of the Flirts series and simply titled: Flirts.

I don’t want to give too much plot away but each of these five stories is a wonderful romantic comedy with characters you love to learn more about. Each of the stories has a happily ever after and each of the romances simply warms  your heart. Lisa Scott is able to do in a short story what many authors do not quite accomplish with hundreds more pages. She draws you in, makes you care for the characters, gives you love and laughter and then ties it up with a lovely ending each time.

There are more of these collections out by Lisa Scott… and I, for one am definitely going to keep my eye peeled for them and add them to my book list. These lovely short stories are a quick and satisfying read. 5 stories in one volume and each a total treat!

The Hot Girl’s Friend… From Flirts!

And back I go to dish out another super quick and quirky read! Seriously I am loving these Flirts! Sometimes you just want that light giggle with a terrific conclusion and with Lisa Scott you really do get that… 2/2 so far! I may just have to splurge and get myself one of the collections! Anyway onto the story.

I love the little blurb that is at the end of my Kindle version… “Can a plain Jane find love when her best friend is a curvy blond man magnet?” And from that point we take off running! Jane is best friends with Miranda who loves clubbing and men and notches on her bedpost that span the world. At one such man hunt (for an Auzzie or someone who owns a yacht) Jane, who sits back and thins out the men for Miranda is the queen of one liners and stories to send the less interesting candidates away meets Brady the bartender. At the end of the evening a bet is made between the two and there the story goes off and running.

I don’t want to share too much more as it IS a short story… but I giggled, I loved the characters and I adored the ending! So if you want a nice, quick enjoyable read The Hot Girl’s Friend is PERFECT!
