Styracosaurus

Another waaaaay back when resource post. Hopefully all live links and helpful to someone! Emanuel has been such a helpful push to make me research some very interesting creatures:

Back to the dinosaurs… this time a rather interesting herbivore called the Styracosaurus. Walking on 4 legs, this dinosaur had a series of spiked along its frill. It also had two spikes above its eyes. Hatched from an egg, this Cretaceous period dinosaur is believed to have roamed in herds. The Styracosaurus was found in North America and probably reacted to predators much like the current rhino. Not the smartest or the largest it definitely has an impressive skull and frill!

Now for our brief video… sadly my German is too rusty to make heads or tails of the facts they are sharing. But it is an interesting 3D rendition of our herbivore.

Lystrosaurus

You do NOT want to know how old these resource posts are!! EEP! But we did love every minute of our dino journey. Sadly I was not on the ball and pre-loading a cute kid pic for this one. BUT I hope the info comes in handy!

The “shovel lizard” Lystrosaurus came to our attention strictly by looks! It straddles the reptile and mammal (like) groups with its unusual characteristics. This VERY successful animal was found all over the world. A herbivore, it was found in the early Triassic period with concentration of fossils in Southern Africa, Asia and interestingly enough… Antarctica! The size of a pig, it is stout and short… ran on four legs and quite the comical looking creature. You can also see this dinosaur on the iPad app Fantastic Dinosaurs HD.

Our video is called Walking With Monsters: Clumsy Lystrosaurus posted by Hritzness.

And for our links… for such a prolific dinosaur we really had a limited number!

Lambeosaurus

WOO pictures and everything on this flash from the past! Enjoy my leap back in time to look at dinosaurs while I prep the next deep and involved post… or get my bum in gear and finish December!

Now we chose our dinosaurs slightly differently… by looking at Dinosaur Train episodes this time round. Lambeosaurus was featured in the episode New Neighbours/Don’s Collection (Season 4, Episode 3) available for free watching (with Prime) on Amazon HERE. Our duck-billed, crested herbivore runs on two legs through the Cretaceous period. Found in the Woodlands of North America it is potentially the largest of the hadrosaurs to date.

We honestly didn’t look for other videos as the kids were very pleased with the Dinosaur Train one. I am sure there are more if you google it!
