Diplodocus

And on and on we go with the dinosaurs… The Diplodocus is a popular herbivore found in the Jurassic period in the USA. With an exceptionally long neck and tail there have been skin impressions found that suggest spikes or spines along the back of this massive dinosaur. Many partial skeletons have been found to create the whole image we are familiar with.

And now onto the videos… of course we started with I’m a Dinosaur…

We join Professor Nick on a short all about the Diplodocus…

And finally watch the herd at work with a predator to boot with BBC

Einiosaurus

I chose this dinosaur strictly on its crazy nose horn. A relative of the triceratops this single horned herbivore was found in the Cretaceous period and unlike many other herbivores is believed to run in herds of ONLY its species. In fact, a muddled 15 different different dinosaurs (of the same species) we found in a jumble at one of the dig sites. The Einiosaurus has been found only in Montana and was a solid and heavy dinosaur.

While there is only one video for this dinosaur from I’m a Dinosaur it is also available in the 360 imagery on the iPad app Fantastic Dinosaurs HD.

And now for the links. You can access EnchantedLearning’s fact sheet HERE. Age Of Dinosaurs has a map, facts and an interesting article HERE. Zuniceratops

The kids were rather sure this was a TRIceratops until they realized that it had TWO horns over its eyebrows and not a third. This herbivore was found in the USA during the Cretaceous period and is considered to be one of the earliest horned dinosaurs. A familiar looking but different dinosaur to be sure!

Two videos for this one, I’m a Dinosaur and a part of When Dinosaurs Roamed America.

We really did not have many links about this dinosaur. We took the main picture off of The Dino Directory HERE for our colouring page. Secret of the Horned Dinosaur has a page on this early version HERE. EnchantedLearning has a fact sheet HERE. You can learn more about the Zuniceratops on Dinosaurs.about.com HERE.
