I Have 14 Year Olds!

February 5th marked the twins turning 14. What in the world happened?20180205_102627

Poor things, this year their birthday fell on the Monday. Which for our schoolroom means we still have a normal, though slightly lighter school day.IMG_20180205_103048_746

Lunch was present time. Once again Aunty Holly and family picked the best gifts. Trinity also coloured them a colouring page.20180205_115140

20180205_115309We had evening classes as normal at the YMCA… drawing class, leadership and then my R.I.P.P.E.D. class at 7pm. The leadership teacher and kids stuff made the boys and Emanuel their own cards! I love our YMCA so much.20180206_210507

We gave them a late supper choice and they chose Mexican. We went to the new place near the YMCA which says it is authentic. It was amazing. And the boys were so polite and respectful. It was such a good dinner.20180205_202707

We really went all out and stopped at Dairy Queen on the way home for an ice cream cake. Which Zander had to wait until the next day to eat.20180205_212047

20180205_212138They told me it was a great day, even with the schoolwork. We have a friend coming over for an overnighter on another weekend and of course there were the grandparent calls.

Happy Birthday to my first and oldest babies! Tiny miracles growing up so quickly.20180205_115120

Begin the Week With a Birthday and Go From There

Celebrating a birthday is ALWAYS fun and a two year old’s is no exception. Of course we had to play chase the baby with the camera as was shown in the previous blog post… Can you believe that lovely brown and pink dress was size 6-9 and fit perfectly?? Kohl’s clearance find.

Our not so baby baby

So with breakfast out of the way and  the birthday girl thoroughly photographed what is there to do? Well… schoolwork for the big ones! Gotta draw that butterfly Chrysalis.

Monday AND Tuesday’s efforts

Once what we had set up was accomplished with only ONE time out we let the kids go run, play and generally do as they please. Then once that was out of their system and Ken done his computer related things we packed up the kids for a walk down one side of the street. The goal: to map the neighbourhood. Step by step, house by house… We have already worked on learning the name of the street we are living on, now it is time to  work on understanding how streets are set up… and enjoy the sunshine.

Working on our maps

With her matching book and outfit

And after lunch some nice quiet time (can you believe I got in a nap too!!!). Naps were started late and ended late so to burn off the built up energy we ALL headed into the vehicles and went to a newly discovered park. Echo was totally ready to climb, slide and run her heart out. All of the kids were!

We were there long enough to turn the boys’ faces red from exertion and as Zander put it… make him dripping with cold sweat. They played hard and were HUNGRY!

My 3 boys

While supper and kids were made ready Ken and I ran to Walmart to get a price correction on something and then went to Walgreens to get a sale price on pencil crayons and then finally DAIRY QUEEN for an ice cream cake. That leaves cake and presents.

Cake!!

Both went over SUPER well… our Echo is well and truly 2. We still need to plan the kids’ party and the family party is set for middle of September. Planning in a whole new place with different people is definitely something new for us. Thank goodness she is only 2 so we have time to plan without her wondering why.

We took Tuesday as a one off day pretty much… wrote one more letter (under MASSIVE duress I might add) to go in the post box with the flag up (seriously that works here!!!) and drew our daily observation of our chrysalis. There are just days when everyone needs a break and that was today… well halfway as we also did a picture each in what is going to become their observation journals.

Gavin’s map

Which meant time was freed up to take MORE pictures of the girls in dresses… I just love the livingroom for pictures. Echo was adamant that today’s be mostly with Trinity. I love it when they feel like being buddies.

And then of course time was spent outside. Baba still has a bunch of those tree branches to take apart to be put out for recycling and until the neighbour boy came over to mow it was time to play outside. Then back out again to take down the trees with the neighbour boy and his older brother’s help!

Watching the tree work

Now tomorrow is lined up to be fun… hopefully busy and always enjoyable.

Happy 33rd!

JUNE 24th/25th!!

As of June 24th yours truly is 33 years old! And loving it! Now how did I celebrate it… Well back in town with Karyn and all… lunch with dear friends! My very first Dim Sum! We originally planned for Indian food but our favourite restaurant does not do Sunday lunch. Echo was totally on board, Trinity not so much. We were very firmly told that she wanted Fruit Loops and yogurt. In fact, we started our day with Fruit Loops!

I felt so special with the friends who turned out for lunch… Lauralee, Victoria and Kristen rounded out our gathering. It wasn’t too busy at  the restaurant and we didn’t have to wait long once we made our selection. It all tasted delicious and was a brand new thing for me.

So good!

Echo approved!

How better to finish off our celebration than to head over to Kristen and Fydo’s for handmade cake courtesy of Victoria!!! Total yum with some amazing visiting and squiggle time for Echo and Trinity. We do miss visiting with these lovely people so the chance to sit and relax with them was AMAZING. I felt so spoiled! It was great to give the girls time to reconnect with some very special Aunties AND see Uncle Fydo, of course! Thank you so much ladies!

Happy Birthday to ME!

Cutting the cake

After saying good bye to everyone we had a quick stop off at Karyn’s to collect our over night items and then head back to Grandma’s. Of course we had to stop off for a slurpee first before leaving town. The drive went pretty well, but it always does when we travel with Karyn. Back to the reality of a 5 child family… though I am not quite sure I really was missed! Apparently life can be more fun without Mommy and her rules and school books. BUT I got hugs!

My present from Kristen and Fydo! THANKS!

Life was a little topsy turvy with the kids running wild and a new dog visiting (Whoopsie and only on a temporary basis). And of course there was the inevitable boy mess in the basement making us settling in near impossible and instant mean mommy appear. So a bit of a let down BUT home we went. Monday was a difficult day… the boys were NOT ready for back to school stuff… and the girls were still settling in.

Ken did set up work so that we could all FINALLY go see the Viking ship. AND get pictures taken with the kids IN IT! Very cool… check out the lake and the swans… and generally photograph the family and the stuff around us. That always is a pick me up for me! I do love my camera!

In the afternoon we did have a visitor – one of the boys’ friends Kenneth who lives next door to mom’s old house came over to play and took the boys and Trinity down the road to the nearby park. He biked over and was more than willing to be in charge of the crew and take them out to play.

Fun in the backyard

That was about all we had going for us on Monday… Except… my belated birthday ice cream cake thanks to Sharon!!! I felt soooo spoiled!!!!
