Wednesday and Thursday in Recap Mode

Well two days in one this time. Wednesday did not prove to be a get up and go sort of day. The twins and myself all seemed to be slightly under the weather so I had a couple naps, they sneezed their way through the day and the rest of the family sort of bumbled along. Rainy weather certainly assisted in the dark moods. We were unable to get Ken freed up in time to head downtown to check out some hair options for Emanuel and when we called the salon in Walmart they were already booked up, and we found out later, closed on Thursday so Emanuel was a little disappointed.

We made up for it with workbook stuff, talking about coins with the twins, and of course… some cartoon time. Naps for everyone pretty much in the afternoon (minus Ken) and some more quiet time until Ken could be freed up to leave the house ended our day of non-activity. Then it was a family drive to Walmart to pick up a few items. Mom has all the makings for two matching pillowcase dresses so once she has had a break from sewing (that costume was a one night thing) she and Trinity are going to work together to make some new dresses.

Creative stacking while counting

After supper it was time for Ken and I to take the girls to Bedtime Story Time at the local library… in their pj’s of course. There was a rather large group and a craft and then cookies AND milk! Echo was babbling away and Trinity, though shy, had fun. We plan on going next week… the week after we will be out of town but at the end of the month the story time group is joining the High Tea party to make fascinators! So I think we shall have to try and make it to that! The girls each have some dresses to choose from and I DO have my Lolita dress I could wear… with Ken as our escort… well it would be an experience and a half.

Well that was Echo’s first real experience of a story time and it was definitely a success. One of the older girls at the group told Trinity that she had a VERY cute sister. I saw a friend of my mom’s though I did not get a chance to talk to her. The girls fit right in!

Cookies AND milk

Our Thursday was a bit of a crafty day… at least for Gavin, who created rings out of pipecleaners to share with everyone.

The weather was perfect for the twins to head out to the pool and splash around…

Fun in the sun

While Emanuel, Trinity and I took a walk to run a couple errands (Echo napped).

He loves our smaller group walks

Running

And then ALL of us went to the nearby park to play with the kids there and run around. I mean we DID do school work but what is so much more memorable are the wonderful together moments we had that day… and while I (and Ken) were still rather worn out and frustrated with things… well… we got out, saw some sunshine and let the kids make some new friends…

Time to spin....

Swinging

Getting us home in time for baths and clean up and then… COMPANY! Tammy and her 3 kids came by with a library book about making things with duct tape for me to look through and some time to visit. I was working on my bows sorting so it was fun to have someone else peruse the wares! Echo and little Russell are the best of friends, though he is way bigger than her and she pets him like he is a puppy!

Post bath play, thus the poofy hair

A good ending to a relatively busy day… and with my next blog entry I will FINALLY share the results and the experience of my very first table with my crafts on it!!! Crazy!!! So check back tomorrow!!!

We Are Here… Now What?

I have dug myself out ONE corner of the upstairs to my personal satisfaction… though I am sure it will be messed up once I move stuff into it to clear another area. Today has been all about shifting to sort… move boxes into one corner to free up another, empty a box only to find that stuff has to go back into another box and then be in the downstairs stack.

Can you believe it? A clean corner... temporarily!

Lego’s have been a life saver… though tomorrow will have to be tiny block free. Messes are just too common and when you are carrying boxes in and out of rooms stepping on one of those tiny demon blocks is simply NOT nice! Right now I am struggling to unearth inside toys and games that will keep the kids quiet and happy. Going out in the back has not been overly successful (as you can tell from yesterday’s entry and the outdoor mishaps). The kids are simply not listening well enough to be out without supervision and sadly I do NOT have things to do in the backyard right now.

Trinity and her Lego family

We did have a milestone with Echo last night – she slept through the night! BARELY but she did it. There was one loud noise of displeasure from the playpen around 1 am but she fell back asleep. I am far from betting on it being a regular occurrence and actually figure it is more the result of a VERY busy and nap deprived weekend.

Our Sweety

We did find her musical puppy last night, now we just need to replace the batteries… don’t ask me where batteries are, that is something I have NOT found! I honestly am not even sure we HAVE AA batteries.

The weather is still not sunny or bright… sort of fits the frustration I am feeling due to all of the boxes left to deal with. Did I mention we have a new picture tree? Cuz we do, and once  the weather is more favourable I will take our very first picture in front of it!!!

Our new photo tree?

The twins spent some time today “feeding” their younger siblings from a menu they created on the fly. Using Legos of all things to create the food! Thank goodness Trinity is old enough to understand NOT to put them in her mouth when they pretend. She has a rather good grasp on pretend and real at this point.

Their own little diner

There has been some excitement around a very special purchase I made last month. A dear friend sent me some money on Paypal to spend strictly on myself and on her prodding I ordered a dress… something I have wanted for years – a classic lolita dress. I had my mom measure me to be sure it was fitted as best it could be being purchased from a company in Hong Kong. I am hoping to, over time, get the appropriate accessories too! Anyway – the excitement. In order to ensure that things wouldn’t be confusing with the move I had it sent to my mom’s address under my name. Well Mom and Mike just left for Ontario and the package is stuck at customs. We had a phone call last week from FedEx that confused us (we never once thought about the dress) and then this morning found out it was a call about this package. Apparently the seller didn’t put a commercial invoice on it and I need to send them proof of sale. Thank goodness my email bill was good enough! This gave me the opportunity to figure out how to get this package with mom gone. Long story short, they are putting a note connected to my package, holding it at the distribution centre and if I can bring the bill, tracking number and ID with my matching name on it (to the city we USED to live in of course) I can pick it up. They also updated my phone number so I will be called HERE when it finally makes it there. I am rather excited though the timing is going to be rough – Ken still has stuff to do back at the old house that would be MUCH harder with the rest of us in tow and I have plans with my cousin Veronika for an overnighter and helping her with her exam (I am her face model). But then when is anything ever simple with this family? Just adds to the entertainment.

Now if I could just expand the area I have organized quicker than I have I would be MUCH happier. I shudder to think about what the basement entails… BUT Ken has his corner set up. I think tomorrow my goal will be to get the area in front of the fireplace sorted out. I still have random items there (think printer, a set of plastic drawers, parts of an easel, etc. etc.) that need homes or at least direction up or downstairs.
