My Last Blind Date (#3 in the Better Date Than Never series)

So I read this series out of order… #2 (HERE), then #1 (HERE) and now #3. Of the 3 books by Susan Hatler this is the briefest. My Last Blind Date read almost as a couple chapters interlude in a larger book. So if you are looking for a fully developed and realized story this isn’t really for you. A contemporary romance, this book continues the story of 4 friends hoping to find love and commitment.

Rachel is solidly single and living with her pampered pooch (who was the catalyst to book #1’s love life)… what is a girl to do on Valentine’s Day? Stay home and mope or take… one last blind date? This is the story of Rachel’s choice.

Susan Hatler’s book really could all be combined into one… I think they make a great afternoon read… this one a couple hours really at most. If you are looking for a nice romance, some great friendships and some silly moments these are the books for you!

Love at First Date (Better Date Than Never #1)

Now I did read this series slightly out of order… you can read my review on book #2… HERE. Love at First Date by Susan Hatler is a lighthearted contemporary romance. What is Ellen to do after a failed long term relationship and a personality that loves organization? Why join an online dating site… Detailed Dating. This local online dating site on Sacramento helped Ellen narrow it down to two very carefully picked candidates which she was  going to meet in person…

That is until Rachel, her good friend and co worker needed her to “babysit” her pampered pooch Chester… cue hilarity leading to a random encounter with a rather attractive and slightly mysterious stranger… Henry… not the “logical” choice what is Ellen to do?

I don’t want to give up more of the story as this is a short story, definitely a giggle for a rainy afternoon. I enjoyed Ellen and her organized chaos and was entertained by the romance and minor mystery connected to Henry… I am looking forward to reading the third installment… My Last Blind Date.

Truth or Date (Better Date Than Never Book #2)

Short romances can be the absolute perfect rainy afternoon cure. Truth or Date, the second in Susan Hatler’s Better Date Than Never series is a great contemporary romance. The main character, Gina has ended her relationship of 10 unproductive, marriage-less years with George only to find herself 4 months later STILL living in the same apartment in the spare bedroom. Time with her girlfriends while preparing for Ellen’s wedding wakes her up to the fact that she needs to move out and move on.

Enter two men into Gina’s hopeful romantic life… Chris, the co worker who is moving on from the company after years there and Ethan, a man that Kristen, fellow bridesmaid set her up with. I don’t want to go too much more in depth as this IS a short story, but the romance is interesting, the characters entertaining and the pace terrific for such a short story.

I found myself easily rooting for Gina to make the right decision and curious about Ellen’s story (book 1 apparently). Truth or Date with its ongoing game of truth or dare as a common theme among the characters is a sweet romance for a quiet afternoon.
