The Hot Girl’s Friend… From Flirts!

And back I go to dish out another super quick and quirky read! Seriously I am loving these Flirts! Sometimes you just want that light giggle with a terrific conclusion and with Lisa Scott you really do get that… 2/2 so far! I may just have to splurge and get myself one of the collections! Anyway onto the story.

I love the little blurb that is at the end of my Kindle version… “Can a plain Jane find love when her best friend is a curvy blond man magnet?” And from that point we take off running! Jane is best friends with Miranda who loves clubbing and men and notches on her bedpost that span the world. At one such man hunt (for an Auzzie or someone who owns a yacht) Jane, who sits back and thins out the men for Miranda is the queen of one liners and stories to send the less interesting candidates away meets Brady the bartender. At the end of the evening a bet is made between the two and there the story goes off and running.

I don’t want to share too much more as it IS a short story… but I giggled, I loved the characters and I adored the ending! So if you want a nice, quick enjoyable read The Hot Girl’s Friend is PERFECT!

Eleven Pipers Piping

A second book in a series which I have not read the first of, Eleven Pipers Piping by C.C. Benison is an absolute GEM. An amazing story with wonderfully fleshed out characters. I love how you immerse yourself in the small English village while exploring the intricate and often tangled relationships that exist there.

The main character, a youngish widowed vicar, is so very human and believable. His daughter Miranda a sometimes French speaking gem… And the housekeeper (who we get the inner thoughts of through typewritten letters to her mother) a giggle and a half as she deals with her Yorkshire pudding issues. The murder mystery is masterfully done and the writing draws you in so well you simply do not want to put it down. I cannot wait for the next book in the series!

There is Scottish and English references in this story… in fact, the mystery starts at a Robbie Burns dinner, bagpipes and all! I am going to have to hunt down Twelve Drummers Drummingand see how it all started. If you enjoy a good cozy mystery full of British landscapes and a touch of Christianity then you will LOVE  the Father Christmas Mystery Series (seriously the Vicar is called Tom Christmas! Love it!). Just keep in mind Eleven Pipers Piping is not published until October and add it to your must have list! (advance copy reading ROCKS!)
