Pumpkins and Trick or Treating

October 30th continued-31st

After all the fun of costumes and milk jugs we moved onto the big attraction – PUMPKIN CARVING! Ken cleaned out all but one of them himself to speed along the process and the kids all took turns doing the last.101_5009

101_5010Carving was up to the kids with strict supervision and some Daddy assistance.

101_5014I think we did a grand job of creating some very imaginative Jack ‘o Lanterns.101_5018

Echo even did a little Halloween fashion. Last year’s pieces still fit!!101_5002

101_5003101_5005Onwards to Halloween and spooky pictures thanks to Art for Kids (link on right).101_5021

We got the chance to tape and then watch the movie based on the book Room on the Broom.101_5022

Of course we had to eat that GIANT rice krispie square…101_5023

Combined with the kids’ first of the program free pizza for reading from Pizza Hut. This is Trinity’s first year!!! Nana and Baba took them to pick it up (you have to have the kids there to use the coupon).101_5024

We also put up Nana’s Halloween themed window stickers.101_5025

Before we knew it it was time for an early dinner – with ORANGE jell-o (thematic).101_5026

And then time to get back into those costumes and over to the Novaks for the long anticipated Trick-or-Treating. Although we had to suddenly convince Echo that Little Red Ridinghood was a “Prinpress”. I love the addition of Trinity’s church coat to her costume. Functional and adorable. We were joined by zombies and creative painted creatures and after our Trick or Treat adventure sat back and enjoyed some Halloween themed games and visiting! Sit back and enjoy the parade of pictures!!!

Budding Egyptologists maybe?

September 23-25

The last full week of a month is always a bit of a rush. I do like to keep our bigger projects confined to a one month span… though that rarely happens when we get so interested or side tracked in answering questions and enjoying the subject matter. But first we drew what we would be if we could be ANYTHING for Halloween… we did this last year and again this year it was a blast to see what they came up with.101_4611

101_4612101_4613And then we dove right back into Ancient Egypt… there is no end to the fascinating things to see and learn about!!!101_4614

101_4615We also made our Fall poster… Gotta find those signs and be ready for the season!101_4619

Egyptian knowledge runs rampant this week… Tuesday was more books and discussion…101_4621

101_4620101_4622Pen pal letters to decorate…101_4625

And on Wednesday story time with the long absent (ok sleeping in Echo’s bed flat as a board) Fat Sheep.101_4629

I love watching the kids all hard at work.101_4630

So to reward them we made some yummy chocolate rice krispie squares!101_4632

And so we make it to midweek intact and tummy full of treats!101_4616
