Ultrasaurus

The name of this dinosaur totally screams super here to me! The Ultrasaurua really lives (er dies?? fossilizes???) up to its name with its ultra long neck and large body. This herbivore was MASSIVE. 5 or 6 stories tall this dinosaur found in North American and South Korea (sites differ on that one) dwarfed everyone and everything. It is believed that it would have had to eat constantly and once fully grown would have had no predators. From the Jurassic period it really was a true giant!

Now for our videos. We had TWO… I’m a Dinosaur of course and the other a fun dinosaur themed song!

And now for our links… Let’s start with Kidsdinos.com who states this is a North American dinosaur but has a great illustration and some solid information HERE. CoolDinoFacts is just a sentence and a picture, but Emanuel loved the picture HERE. Animal Planet has a lengthy article HERE. The Jurassic Park site states that this dinosaur is native to South Korea HERE. There is actually another brief video on Curiosity.com from Discovery Channel dealing with the predator issue HERE. EnchantedLearning has a great page HERE about our dinosaur. Wiki has its article HERE and our colouring page comes from this site HERE.

Protoceratops

Emanuel chose Protoceratops based purely on its rather unique looks. This herbivore is smaller than you think, really the size of a large pig. Whole nests have been found as well as skeletons of varying levels of development. The Protoceratops was one of the first horned dinosaurs with bumps more than horns and a large frill. From the Cretaceous period, this herbivore had a beak like mouth and walked on four very solid legs… all over Mongolia.

Because of how we found this dinosaur (in a book instead of from the I’m a Dinosaur list) we have one video. An “epic” battle. So, enjoy!

So onto our links! We lucked out and this was a dinosaur on the Kidsdinos.com site HERE. Kidsdigodinos.com has a question for your avid dinosaur lover HERE. Of course EnchantedLearning has a page HERE with a wonderful diagram. There is a great page full of Protoceratops facts and pictures HERE. Dinosaurs.about.com discusses our herbivore HERE. Animal Planet has information AND a wonderful museum display of a nest HERE. There is an article by a Professor from the Department of Geosciences HERE. Our colouring page was also a question page too, you can find that HERE. Of course Wiki has their page HERE.

Compsognathus

While Emanuel has openly stated his favourite dinosaurs are the herbivores we most certainly can NOT ignore all these interesting carnivores. The compsognathus is no exception. This dinosaur, tiny as it was (the size of a chicken) is the first dinosaur of which a whole, complete fossil was found! Now for our links and videos for this rather interesting, but small dinosaur from the late Jurassic Period.

We found TWO videos for this dinosaur. Of course, I’m a Dinosaur was first.

But the second is actually from Jurassic Park the Game?? Seems like it could be rather interesting.

So it seem Compy is a little bit famous! Kidsfront.com has a great little blurb with a colour Emanuel whole heartedly agreed with HERE. Blue was perfect he said! There is more about the Compsognathus and its role in the Jurassic Park franchise and more HERE. Dinosaurs.about.com has some interesting information HERE. As usual Emanuel loved the charts and graphs on Kidsdinos.com HERE. EnchantedLearning has a fact sheet HERE or the article with more information HERE. Of course Wiki has its article HERE. And last of all, our colouring page HERE.
