Examining October

Well, you can already see pictures from Halloween HERE, as usually it was a fun time.

Echo’s wedding dress photos are HERE.

October was also Ken’s birthday… his 40th if you can believe it! We kept it low key, just as the birthday boy requested. He is not a big party animal. But he also was given an award for his hard work involved in getting his mental health under control and advocating for the association that helped him. We got to dress up and everything!20171005_183253

We even had TWO foreign visitors, Jeff flew down from Canada to hang out. Never a bad thing, friends and family flying down when we still can’t return ourselves.20171024_170421

With Jeff there is ALWAYS yummy curry.

And Karyn!!! A shorter visit than her normal yearly visit but we packed in the fun and hugs and … shopping of course!20171010_115528

We had our yearly pumpkin patch trip with our friend Trish and her two kids. Always fun and thankfully on a day when the weather mostly cooperated.

I am so grateful that Trish is willing to embrace our loud and crazy family.

Wedding Dress Revisited

So I had seen this idea waaaaay back when on the internet to put your daughter as a child in your wedding dress for pictures. Well, I can now say that myself and BOTH of my daughters have tried on my wedding dress! You can revisit the Trinity experience back in 2012 HERE. My own wedding photos are all film. So you get this badly scanned and saved off Facebook years later image to get a feel of how I looked in the dress. FB_IMG_1508446948163

Anyway… Trinity has requested I not do my original plan, which is dismantle the dress and make keepsake items out of it for the girls. Instead she wants me to hold onto it for her. Who knows, she may wish to make it over. OR we could make it a real long reaching tradition where ANY of the future babies can also try it on for photos?? I honestly don’t get tired of looking at these. So enjoy the photo dump. 20171019_152143_HDR

Revisiting My Wedding Dress

It is amazing how much thought and work went into a dress I had gotten for ONE day. All the beads and sequins were sewn onto the existing lace on the dress by myself, Shandai and my mother… I lucked out with my dress. It was bought at a liquidation place for someone else who in turn got pregnant before her wedding and so could not wear it. It fit me perfectly and for the amazing price of 80.00 it was mine! We just had to do all that sewing and then have it cleaned I pressed (which I think was another 60-80). Add in my veil and it was time for photographs, but not of me (I seriously cannot get into the dress after having 5 kids due to bone structure changes), but of Trinity! I saw this idea online – put your daughter in your dress as a child and save the pictures for when they get married! And as I am debating NOT keeping my dress but taking it apart later and making two outfits for the girls out of the material… well this way she CAN say she wore my dress anyway! So please enjoy the pictures!
