Crafty Thoughts

My Aunt Pat sent the family a forward with some funny "Masculane Maladies" which she titled For FEMALE eyes only – I thought I would share a few.

One day my housework-challenged husband decided to wash his sweatshirt. Seconds after he stepped into the laundry room, he shouted to me, "What setting do I use on the washing machine?"
"It depends," I replied. "What does it say on your shirt?"
He yelled back, "University of Oklahoma."
And they say blondes are dumb…

Dear Lord,
I pray for Wisdom to understand my man; Love to forgive him; And Patience for his moods.
Because, Lord, if I pray for Strength, I’ll beat him to death.
AMEN
Q: Why do little boys whine?
A: They are practicing to be men.
Hehe… anyway enough of that.
We went to the early service today leaving my mom here with the twins. It was so nice to get to sit through a sermon, although I rocked Emanuel in the cry room (you can still see the service through the window and hear it over a speaker) for half of it. We signed up for our pictures and got in a little visiting.
I made supper out of whatever I could find in the cupboard – I took a pound of hamburger, a can of cream of mushroom soup and some shredded cheese with a little milk and put it on macaroni. Actually tasted rather good. I think we have one more pound of hamburger left until Wednesday so tomorrow evening I will make meatloaf and then cook up the last of the frozen peas to go with. We did pick up sausage so I have meat for the boys for the first half of the week. I have made a much more all enclusive list for when we can do a nice big shop. I am thinking I could easily premake meals if I get motivated. We also have to start getting ready too cook our Christmas cookies… I have to figure out how many dozen we need to do this year. Hopefully I can find tins to put the cookies in, we had to use Christmas zip-locs, too many cookies ended up broken.
Tomorrow is a civic holiday so Ken should be staying home. Wednesday is supposed to be twin group but Zander seems to be coming down with a cold and one of the moms is either overdue still or has a brand new baby. I would hate to pass a cold along to them so we will have to wait and see. Either way they will spend Wednesday or Thursday evening with their Grandma Anna.
I got this neat crafty booklette in the mail with ideas for Christmas. One of them was a way to hang cards on ribbon. You take a thick piece of satin and run a thinner piece overtop the tip piece is folded at each card and clipped on with a round paperclip. I am going to go through my mom’s button box and see if I can’t find neat buttons to hot glue onto regular paperclips. I got some ribbon from my mom to start with though I will probably check out what they have in Walmart. After Ken gets paid of course. I am thinking of taking up knitting too. Something that I can make gifts from that is easy to learn. So watch out – next year you make get scarfs LOL.

The Joy of Normalicy

A rather normal day today. Ken picked up Emanuel’s new carseat – Eddie Bauer 3 stages that I got on sale. This one goes backwards 14-30lbs – I just do not feel Emanuel is big enough to sit forward. He falls asleep so quickly, however this marks the end of our easy one cart shopping. No more carseat for the littlest one. Either the twins are going to have to walk or I am going to have to carry Emanuel. I do have carriers, maybe I can get the sling to work with Emanuel on my hip? Ken and I will have to try and work it out. We saw someone else using one at Superstore. I could always use the chest carrier, it is not too hard to put him in once you have it all set up. To think we want one more as well LOL what a balancing act that will be as they grow up.
I got a letter from my Dad’s mom this week. She sent me the story of how my grandfather’s father got here from Russia. It was fascinating, another piece to the family puzzle. She did, however, mention getting information from my Great Grandma Eva (her sister)… that is one address I DO NOT have. I know she lives in Lanigan Saskatchewan, a small town… so if I sent it to her general delivery or something it would probably get to her… since we are cutting down costs I am trying really hard NOT to call long distance. Adding all this to my Great Aunt Theresa’s letter and the copy of the cd she had made that my aunt and uncle had – I am getting a ton of information! This is actually kind of fun, though it is hard to find the information I want at times.
So much to do and so little time, Alan, Xinny and Isabella plan on being here rather early in the morning for our playdate so I should really get things done.

Never Enough Time in the Day

Thursday already and I feel so behind, this weekend I have to go out and purchase my ornament for the ornament exchange in my online twin group (Multiple Blessings). Tonight Ken is going to make my template so that I can get my Christmas card addresses done up. We pick up the pictures next week. Alan and Xinny and Isabella are coming for a playdate this Saturday and my mom is coming over early on Sunday so that Ken, Emanuel and I can go to that early traditional communion service (we left before communion last Sunday – the twins were just no interested in re-entering the sanctuary and the baby was getting rather fussy) and afterwards get our appointment to get our pictoral directory picture taken. So if I do not get out before then I wll have to go to Walmart and see what I can find ornament wise. Our Walmart has a large selection of Christmas decorations each year and I also have a cross stitch to add to the package. Now if I can just get Ken to WASH and IRON them… He did get all of the dishes done last night.
Emanuel has had a bit of a rocky day. It has been a bit of a struggle to get him to settle to nap and he has been fussy about eating his cereal. Not sure if he is finally teething or just being a boy hehe. We are still attempting to get him to admit to the time change and stop waking up at 7 am. No luck so far. He is VERY active now, pulling to a stand, crawling around though still not going long distances. Ken finds that if you hold out his binky out of reach then he will actually crawl to you LOL. It is like overnight he started really moving.
Ken and I did a small amount of shopping yesterday. Went out and got a whole roasted chicken for dinner – so good! I am determined to cook the majority of our meals. Next week I would like to get out the breadmaker and start making bread again. I just love that smell. At the end of the month Ken and I are going to bake our Christmas cookies that we give out to local friends and family – from my mom’s sugar cookie and butter icing recipes. Hopefully we can get my mom to watch the twins so that we do not have to worry about little people underfoot.
I took out the mega blocks today again. It has been quite a few months since the twins have played with them and they were ecstatic to have them back! They even shared the blocks with Emanuel. Both of the boys are really becoming terrific big brothers. Very caring and loving. Although both are very much in need of haircuts. Ken is going to do them again, we just have to find the time. Isn’t that always the problem – a lack of time?
