July Showers Bring… ?

Well July is almost over and I am honestly unsure of where the days went. Emanuel is creeping up on 6 months old, summer is almost over… we did get some not so great news today – apparently in November our rent is going up $45.00… so the hunt is on to see if we can find something that would be of better value with 3 bedrooms and NOT have to move in by October 1st. That would be "fun" – it looks like Ken is to be gone from the 2nd to the 5th abouts to Germany and I am leaving on the 5th to the 12th with Emanuel to go to South Carolina. We are working out what we will do with the twins the two days we figure it is possible both of us would be gone. Either my mom will have to come over and watch them or Ken’s folks (one or both) would fly up to spend some quality time with the boys. Either way I have to make many many notes as to how our days go by. Even for Ken since there are things we do on weekdays he does not participate in on a regular basis.
The next thing to plan is the twins’ 2 1/2 birthday party. Either the 2nd or 3rd weekend in August – we have the decorations all we need to do is get food, cake and the wagon we want to get them. I think we are going to decorate up the apartment and then when ppl get here walk down to the park for games and then back here for food – that way I am not depending on the weather and can get the decorations done the night before. Should be fun .
Gas hit $1.12 a litre today… it is unreal. Ken says it is cuz there is another war starting in the Middle East. I am just hoping Ken’s cousin Anne gets to come home from Iraq and stay in the states for a while. She joined the army young and her first deployment is to Iraq. Scarey… Ken still says that if Hilary Clinton is made president he will take his Canadian citizenship test – she jumped on the anit-gaming platform/bandwagon when she did not check the demographics. Something Ken is VERY opinionated about – being a gamer to the core after all.
We walked to the Stationary Store in the drizzly weather today… I got the papers I want to use for Emanuel’s Zoo scrapbook pages. Some animal print and a page of monkeys I can cut out. Now all I need to do is order the pictures.
We started cleaning today… my goal is by tomorrow night to throw out  garbage bag of stuff from the apartment. We got it half full tonight. Hopefully I can get the place ship shape before I leave… though a wrench may be thrown in the works if we find a place to move to before then… we shall have to wait and see. Some days I wish I was still a kid and someone else could do all this mature decision making stuff for me!

Zoo… Binkies… and Children on a Whole

Ok so I must admit I have been lax at writing in my B-log. Yesterday we spent a large portion of the day at the Calgary Zoo… It was the kids’ first time there and a great success. A rather hot day (though no where near the hottest) we didn’t go through the whole zoo just the African exhibit, the playground and the primates. The twins LOVED seeing the animals but I think their favorite part was playing on the playground really. We tried to keep them in the shade as much as possible, drink a ton of water and we had a nice long dinner at a Swiss Chalet that was air conditioned. Emanuel did wonderfully. I brought a washcloth and a little dish to keep cool water in and kept wiping him down. He managed to breastfeed multiple times, get in a couple little naps and be passed around with a little smile on his face. I am so glad I brought the bottles of frozen water – though next time I will plan on bringing more than 8.
Esther, Karyn and Christine all managed to come along. It was wonderful to visit and an added bonus of having all those helping hands. Christine was even able to notarize Emanuel and my passport applications.
Our other BIG news is that since Friday night the twins have been BINKY FREE!!! Wow. We went out to Walmart and bought them each a new pillow and then at bedtime Ken cut up the binkies and then gave it to them. Then we asked them to throw them out and they would get a pillow. Zander was fine with it but Gavin is still a little mopey about not having one.
Poor Gavin was the only one who had any real fall out from yesterday. He has been a little lethargic, hot, sad and sweaty. He fell asleep on the floor today and has been rather moody about things. He is better though.
Emanuel is doing well. He is almost sitting up now and laughing all the time… and what a breastfeeding PRO. *Warning Girly Content* Though I am finding my nipples are a little sore since he is snacking alot and it is rather hot and dry… oh for some rain!!! *Ok you are safe now LOL*
Well the next big thing to plan is the twins’ 2 1/2 yr birthday party. Ken has to start feeling out some dates. If we just decorate up the livingroom and have a little celebration I would be happy. I think we are going to get them a wagon. We just do not have a safe and easily accessible area for trikes.
So with heat and exhaustion comes the inevitable irritability on my part. Thankfully Ken was able to come home and help with lunch today but I really could use a 24 hr nap or a cold day hmmm tough call LOL.
July is over half over and I do feel that we have had some fun, hopefully next weekend we can get out and do something else again… who knows.

Thursday — Weekend in My Sights

Well, Ken is home but we have not seen much of him. He comes home for dinner and then back to work until well into the night. I am very thankful that he is home though… I feel much less overwhelmed though there are moments – especially when the twins act … well like 2 yr olds.
I got my hair cut again Tuesday and love it, she layered it much more than the previous woman so it is lighter and "poofier" so I am getting used to it and playing around with it. Taking that extra bit off has made my hair look darker since the sun bleached tips are gone (not that I am out in the sun much LOL).
I must admit I am feeling a little lonely lately. The kids have been so grumpy and Ken and I have had so little time together (quality time) that I have been feeling rather out of it. Having Ken gone has reinforced my need to get out of this town for a while. Happily he has decided to start actively pursuing planning my trip down to South Carolina. I know my sister would LOVE to come here and visit on her fall break from University but she is on the running team (she is VERY good) and if she was able to fly up here at that point that would insinuate that she will not be running in the forth coming races. That is something I would hate to see happen. She is so excited about going back at the end of next month!
I am hoping we can plan a playdate with Isabella and her parents this month. Gotta light a fire under the daddies LOL…
