You ever have one of those days?

The big boys have spots definitely and some are relatively painful or
uncomfortable – bottoms of feet due to pressure and any in their mouths.
On top of that the weather is rather miserable – rainy and windy so no
going outside with all 4 kids under the weather so all three boys were
at each others throats all morning and Trinity sleeping badly due to
noise… Add to that Emanuel deciding to throw out his soother last
night now realizing TODAY that it is gone and NOT happy about it at nap
time, as well as two exhausted 4 yrs old refusing to settle down enough
to sleep but in bad enough moods they are not fit to be around… and I
am starting to think Mommy needs to curl up and hide under the bed…
it has been a while since all the kids were sick at once, I think I had
gotten complacent lol

At least supper is easy – I just have to boil up noodles, heat up
the sauce we made two days ago and strip the boys down to their
skivvies… BUT of course the time is wonderful – tonight is Ken’s "guy
night" and it is NOT at our house this week so after he pitches the
boys in the tub for me and helps clean the kitchen a bit he is off
until late..

we took Trinity to the dr’s yesterday for her 4 month where he did
confirm that she had Hand-Foot-Mouth but it was mild and she was
getting over it.. they weighed her at 13 lbs which sounded terrific to
us… but then he compared it to her height on some chart and all of a
sudden she is small for her height… now I had checked out a breastfed
baby chart back when I was concerned in the heat and it said 13 lbs was
where she should be… so the dr said we could breastfeed more often
(ummm I already do demand feed and since the heat has broken she has
eaten more – in fact if I go by their scale she gained half a lb in 2
days!!! all cuz she is over the worst of the virus and the heat is no
longer so intense).. or give her some formula (not if I am leaking when
she feeds thank you!!). Ken says he thinks she is fine, I grew the same
way but I am horribly missing our old pediatrician who knows all about
our family history and high metabolisms and believed us when we said –
look that is how *I* was growing up!! Otherwise he says she is a
terrifically happy and healthy baby… but after today it is so easy to
dwell on the negatives…

So basically I think I have had a temporary bought of insanity with
all the upset kids and am having a huge sigh of relief at the LACK of
sound coming from the twins’ room – sounds like theyhave finally passed
out thank goodness this virus is a rough one on them… I just have
fingers crossed that she gains weight – even though after breastfeeding
she is completely content or asleep – and that the boys are willing to
listen better so I can start some games without undermining my
discipline.

Sorry to just go on and on but today has been one of those days!

Wasps Nest

So my mom’s boyfriend was on the phone in his truck and he was just looking around at our street when he happened to look up at the tree in front of our neighbors on that strip of grass on the other side of the sidewalk that the city plants trees on…. well up there like 10-12 feet up in the air was a MASSIVE wasps nest! Something NO ONE seems to have noticed… and we thought all the wasps were there due to our apple tree dropping rotten apples… so now Ken needs to call the city as first of all it is WAY up in the tree, second of all on the branch over the street and third of all WASPS!!!! At least now we know why there are so many, it is just frustrating as I want the boys outside (sick or not – fevers gone no spots so we wait 3 days and if no spots it was just a different virus) but with wasps… no can do and we can’t go for walks right now as Trinity is still feeling a bit icky and I want to keep her home and snuggled as much as possible … I guess we will have to talk to daddy about a trip to the park (a VERY special treat) with us girls relaxing at home….

so we go from hand-foot-mouth to wasps… what’s next? clowns??? lol

Deep Breath, Slow Down

Well it has been a VERY busy two weeks so let’s start at the beginning:
Everything started with the 8th and Ken’s parent’s getting in from Minnesota for the baptism, then on the 9th my dad, step mom and sister… with Ken and I taking them and Trinity and heading out to dinner at the Mongolie Grill (omg soooo good!!!), the 10th was Trinity’s baptism with all 5 grandparents there, family members from my mom’s side and numerous friends… then to our house for lunch which led to dinner and a nice late night visit with the last few people… dad and Jamie left for Calgary that afternoon and Ken’s folks flew out crack of dawn the 11th… Esther headed back home on the 11th as well and we were left with my sister Kat for a couple of days… night of the 12th we had Cousin David and Ted over for dinner and games with Kat… 13th we left for a busy day in Calgary… stopping first at Uncle Brian and Aunty Lynne’s to meet up with my dad and Jamie then out for a yummy lunch and A & W and a tiny bit of shopping at Walmart… off to Uncle Vincent and Stacey’s to see their twins (who are about the same age as Trinity if you figure in their being born early a few weeks before her) and almost ALL of our family including some cousins, their kids and my grandma and grandpa Bill… we even had a surprise mystery guest in the form of Aunty Becky and Uncle Lyle who were not supposed to be there originally… we stayed as late as we could and then left Kat with the crew and headed over to Kathy’s to finally see her new place and spend the night! That led to Emaneul being sick 3 or more times and Ken being my hero by dealing with it… the morning of the 14th Kathy and Trinity and I headed out for some relaxing shopping – for Trinity of course… then after lunch and Emanuel’s nap we headed over to my brother’s to meet up with dad, Jamie and Kat, see Holly and finally meet our nephew Jimmie who has moved here from Texas… since they live in a small basement suite so we headed off to a nearby park for some play before heading off back home after saying my usual tearful goodbyes…
You would think it ended then but NO – Friday Ken was right back to work and late that night Karyn came over… Saturday morning we did some shopping and then Karyn and I got Oodle Noodle Box take out – rather yum… we spent the afternoon/evening quietly with Ted joining us and Karyn heading home before the evening was over… Sunday was our final big busy day – back to Camrose for church at 10 am at our old church, lunch with mom (Taco Bell/KFC) and then pictures at Walmart and finally the afternoon hanging out at my mom’s while the boys played… 5pm we went to Superstore to shop and then meet up with Christine to go over to HER new place for pizza and a long visit… then back home with me on my way to being ill.. Monday Ken was home working since I was basically out of it… and then finally life back to relative normal on Tuesday!! Course I am AGES behind on emails, Facebook… etc but we are home for the time being! Though we did find out one of the cousin’s had a little one with hand-mouth-foot disease… she was misdiagnosed by TWO doctors (poor baby… though at least it was not a huge suffering sort of illness) and so far only one of the other little ones has come down with it.. I am keeping an eye on the kiddos but so far so good. I have been feeling off but figure that is just something connected to whatever Emanuel had (that I forgot to mention led to both of the twins throwing up Friday…)… optimism right?
I think we are just glad to BE HOME… now I just have to plan the rest of the month and figure out some playdates etc for the boys… Not to forget about Trinity’s 4 month appointment next week and her shots coming up as well… where does the time go?
