Seeing the Optimistic Side Again

Ok so Ken being injured SUCKS. He is cranky (not a huge surprise and moreso than normal) and cannot do anything really. So the chores he had not finished BEFORE he broke the toe are still there for ME to do. I have gotten some cleaning done but man is it hard to do it all while the kids are up and about.
Emanuel is really starting to progress… he is cleaning up with us, chattering tons (not English yet), attempting to walk while holding our fingers, he even crawls to his brother’s door when he hears them wake up and tries to push it open! Zander and Gavin are starting to use a few more words though forget to talk when they get frustrated… progress though!
My Grandma (dad’s mom) called me last night. They are doing well. one of her older sisters fell a few weeks back and is still repairing but it sounds like the rest of them are fine. She has 4 sisters and 4 living brothers (her oldest brother died last year in his 90’s). She has not been able to see Emanuel in person yet but calls regularily to catch up. Hopefully we can make it out their way this spring/summer.
One of the twin moms in one of me online egroups sent me a little package with the bum cream I like but cannot buy in Canada – what a sweetheart. I cannot express how much I appreciate all these people I have met on the internet. So much better than penpals. Like my UK bud Cheryl who talked me right back into an optimistic state of mind last night after Ken’s accident. I just don’t know what I would do without the internet. I blame Ken and his computer programming ways.
Tomorrow I am trying a recipe in one of the kids cookbooks my mom lent me… hamburger muffins. They are made of hamburger — and get this — vegetable soup (condensed!) I will let you all know how it goes. Hopefully the boys like it, I would like to get them some new meal ideas. Ken is even willing to try it!!!!
Hmm the twins were bratty today at times but wonderful at others, Emanuel was his usual lovable self and Ken is still surviving. No calls from creditors and a package in the mail – all in all a pretty good day!
Here are a few interesting quotes:
Sometimes you have to get to know someone really well to realize you’re really strangers.
– Mary Tyler Moore
If you can’t be a good example, then you’ll just have to serve as a horrible warning.

Clumsy Husband

The joys of living with a clutz… last night Ken ran into one of the twins’ cribs and broke his toe – the same foot he previously dropped the palatte mover on last month. He went to emergency this morning – guess who is not able to work at the grocery store for around a month!!! And just when we were getting on our feet. I swear FRUSTRATING.
Oh well, we do not have to pay for the student loan until May – so we are tight for a month – well then after that we can get back to normal – right??? Ken is going to start working on the site for Jeff and Darryl to sell pc parts – so if you need some…. contact us! Hopefully this can take off quickly and pick up the slack…
I am sure I have a ton more to share – but I am worn out today…. please keep us in your prayers… Ken needs to heal as quickly as possible and as the bon broke near the tendon has to keep an eye on it to make sure he does not lose mobility…

…If My Kids Would Only TALK!!

It has been a very busy week that seems to be over before it even started. We had our 4th session with the "reading lady," the twins were not overly interested in stories but enjoyed the puzzles and props she brought. Emanuel actually sat through a couple stories. She is not back this next Thursday – conference – so Ken is taking a long lunch one day that week so that the whole family can go out. A nice treat when their weekly scheduled day activity is cancelled.
Emanuel has had a rough couple of nights, last night he woke up at 2:20am (lately he has been sleeping longer) which is better than midnight but still early for how well he has been doing. He kept us up until after 3am when Ken got home and took over. I guess HE wa up with Emanuel until 4:30. What was nice was that everyone slept until 8am! I did have to feed Emanuel at 4:30 but that is no biggy. Teething and his cold are really wearing him out.
Last night we brought out the fondue and had chocolate and strawberried – delish, though next time we will have more fruits. I bought the melting chocolate at the grocery store, it really was affordable and did not taste half bad. Now we need to try the meat one and find a cheese fondue we actually like.
Gavin has a new favorite word – I am not sure if I mentioned it in the last entry "NO" and he uses "mine" now too. But he runs around going no no noooooo all the time, cute but annoying after a while. Zander is still pushy with Emanuel but getting back to normal sharing and playing with him. I think Emanuel’s growing up is hard on him, he really does not want to share with ANOTHER kid. Already he and Gavin have to share basically everything.
Ken needs to make up a bunch of hours at his night job so OF COURSE they have less back stock to deal with so it is looking like he may actually have some trouble getting those shifts in. The Christmas rush having come and gone and all… oh well, if he can do one a week or even move up to 5 shifts a week when we start paying back my student loans… it will all work out… right?
Something really nice DID happen today – Christine called me! It was so nice to hear from her. She is still working at two pharmacies and going to school so still no plans to visit and give her her Christmas gifts… invite to the party she missed… Valentine’s Day card… good grief she has a tidy pile. Course we have not sent the Novaks their package yet either… shipping SUCKS!
At least the house is slowly getting cleaner and cleaner. Tonight we are going to get a couple more things put away and Ken has done all the dishes. Progress! Now if Ken can just get a wee bit better on the procrastination…
