End of the Week

The week is over and we are the proud owners of BLACK toner… so now… cyan is getting low… FIGURES! BUT for now we can get going on our printing again. So I did up some more math sheets, colouring pages and even some jokes – all dinosaur themed. Once I get the print outs done for the lapbook I plan on posting some of those links so keep an eye peeled!

Gavin has almost finished his Lightning McQueen workbook – he got all the way down to subtraction before I had to call it a day as he wasn’t focusing and kept confusing it with addition. We really need to get the counting rods. The little blocks we have from our preK curriculum work find but we only have 20 of them which is not enough for both boys to do it or to go beyond 20. I am hoping to find a few more workbooks at the dollarstore tomorrow or something. Reinforcing with different versions and mediums. Our focus on reading has slipped so we definitely have to return to that.

Zander and his book

All 4 of the big kids went out in the backyard to play in the fall weather… well until Emanuel had a fit due to Zander pushing him on the slide and Gavin tried to stop him from crying by covering his mouth… I figured it was best to just bring everyone in. It is taking a little adjusting to get them all used to have to wear shoes and sweaters. A couple times I have peeked out and found them in barefeet and it is a little too cold for that. In some areas in Alberta there has already been a bit of snow! Certainly makes it more important to start trying on the winter gear and check and see who is not ready – Emanuel most certainly IS with lots to choose from! But Trinity and the twins… I am not sure about them. I am hoping the lovely pants and coat I got off of Kijiji for Trinity still fit! And have noticed that at Superstore winter coats are 40.00 a piece. Winter in Alberta means we HAVE TO have the gear. As it is we turned on the furnace this week!

Fall weatheer fun

When we ran out for groceries today I checked at Superstore to see which boots would fit Trinity but the selection was less than stellar. I am hoping the one near mom will have more, after all it won’t be that long before we visit her again. She has cookie dough we bought from her for a fundraiser!

Tomorrow is shaping up to be busy – there is a Thomas thing at Toys’r’Us in the morning, and a 15% off total purchase coupon at Michaels. I need to go to Dollarama for some bits and bobs and hopefully Fabricland for some supplies to make Echo’s headbands. Busy busy… tonight is homemade pita pizzas and Dr. Who and IT Crowd with Ted. Great ending to the week if nothing else!

Silly Menfolk and their toys

So much more aware!

Triceratops! AKA the Boys DID Learn Something This Morning!

So apparently the boys DO retain something from time to time. This morning Ken sat them all back down to re-watch their educational dinosaur video (which also freed him up to his own devices while Echo and caught some much needed sleep). As a result this afternoon I was lectured on fossils AND was shown a credible Triceratops made out, of all things – pink, yellow and blue Play Doh! Yay!

Triceratops

So today we got some lovely things in the mail! The big one – a baby present from a good friend up north. A handmade blanket! So of course I had to take some pictures!!! The kids were all very impressed by the colours and softness.

Thank You Stephanie

The package from our board came today too. So Ken and I have some reading to do. Exciting!!! And certainly NOT a small package…

The weather is seeming to stick with fall. So I am toying with getting all the kids’ shorts together and box them up. I go through them at the end of winter and size them against the kids. The twins are so thin that this year the only issue was length with old shorts and not waist! But I am sure that Trinity’s will be too small and packed away for Echo and Anna.

Definitely fall weather (Zander)

I am certainly not in top blogging form tonight but I did manage to get a sweet picture of our two little girls. Tomorrow we have a bit of shopping to squeeze in, Ken is helping out Chris (He) and there is of course the promised delivery of TONER!! Free delivery as the cost of the toner is over the minimum. SCORE!

Look we're holding hands!

Toner-less Household Still… /pout

I am further thwarted today with a severe lack of Toner… ok so I knew it was coming but it said order black toner for MONTHS and then now when I honestly needed it for school set up… it lets me down. BUT apparently tomorrow is the day! So the boys were left with what pages I had managed to print out and of course their educational games and toys. Which seemed to work relatively well.

The whole crew headed out after naps and played in the backyard. We are working on taking down everything but the swing set and packing or throwing out for winter so the pickings are slim toy wise but the swing set is always a win. And of course, since it rained or something last night they managed to find some mud to play in. What kid doesn’t love mud? Certainly not ours… they all came in a little grubby.

Drying off the play-set (Zander)

My Scottish needle case is coming along swimmingly. I am a little vague on the finishing directions… I think I have to find a piece of cardstock or something and cut it down  to size (not that I don’t have TONS of that). I can’t wait to see how it turns out!

Rose starting to show

We made it to the library today after our weekly run to get fruit and veg. I ordered all the books I could listed on our dinosaur lapbook and the kids are over the moon. We read the first book tonight as a bedtime story – If the dinosaurs came back by Bernard Most. Not a complicated story but a GREAT bedtime one, especially since this one came in the big book format.

Story time (Gavin right)

I ordered another round of pictures for scrapbooking purposes. I figure since Karyn has left her Cricut with us for another week I would do a few up for the weekend before I have to give it back. Such a fun toy, I am completely sold on wanting my own!

The kids did get to watch their dinosaur video this morning, and plan to repeat that process a couple more times in the near future. Emanuel is so excited that we are getting going with dinosaurs again. I figure this way no matter what we have a common theme through the first half of our year. Which reminds me that in 2 weeks we are having our facilitator over for one of 2 yearly meetings. Exciting and nerve racking. After all this is my first year actually signed up and dealing with a board. I am hoping we are doing enough and in a way that is positive and fulfilling for my kids! 28th of this month is the day!

Future students

So back to work on my needle case and baby snuggles… life is rather good!

Who can resist BABY FEET?

From last night... our little girl!
