Pteranodon

Gotta love those flying dinosaurs… only not… flying LIZARDS! Potential relatives of dinosaurs AND birds! The Pteranodon is a rather LARGE version of this rather popular lizard. Found in the Cretaceous period with a diet of fish, it has been found in the USA (although a couple say Jurassic???). But enough about this intimidating fisher… onto the links and video.

We actually had TWO videos for the Pteranodon… first I’m a Dinosaur (yup running out of those)…

The second from Brookfield Zoo… Mesozoic Idol!

And now my link list… yup gonna keep the trend going!

Hello Baby….

August 4-6

Sunday is always an up and down day… but we totally lucked out with Sunday afternoon COMPANY! Lily Bean and our girls are fast friends already and this time Bree brought Quinn!!! Talk about a great afternoon!101_3954

101_3956101_3958101_3962photo (82)101_3973Our Monday moved right back into our daily patterns. While I love flexibility and all, the constant spelling, folder work, and together time has been doing wonders on our progress and our attitudes.101_3981

We had two rather important completions! Trinity finished another of her Pre K books and GAVIN moved onto his grade 3 math. A little ahead of schedule and with some things we will refocus on later, but what a confidence boost!!!101_3975

101_3980On Tuesday we started our true discussion on Lions and what we know already about them. I was quite impressed by the amount of facts the kids already have about them. We plan on learning a bit about Kenya and Tanzania as well, with some books, lapbooks, worksheets and random shows I think we will do just fine on our 3rd major animal unit!!101_3983

101_3984Of course we had to enjoy some sunshine. With the AC sometimes we forget how lovely it is outside as well. But wow is it nice on those super hot days!101_3989

I am sure there will be another picture blog with the rest of our Lily and Quinn time, but I hope you enjoyed the pictures that I have posted! It is so nice to visit with our friends be it planned or surprise drop ins!101_3965

Honeymoon for One… a Book Review

From introspective or paranormal to light hearted romance… the key to a healthy book diet is to diversify right? Honeymoon for One by Chris Keniston begins with a broken heart and an impulsive choice. Michelle is raising her younger sister alone after the death of both of her parents in a car accident years previous. We meet up with her as she waits to speak to her fiance Steven and her best friend Beth who has some new for her. A week away from her marriage and her whole life falls to shambles…. or so she thought.

On the suggestion of her friends, with her teenaged sister already set up with responsible supervision she heads to Vegas on her own for her honeymoon trip. Determined to cut loose and live more than she has to date, the stable and somewhat boring Michelle becomes Micki, a girl alone in Vegas and ready for adventure.

Enter Kirk, the wealthy unknown, on a leisure trip and looking to have the best (no strings attached) time possible. (I will warn you there are some sexual situation though not highly graphic.) After the fun in Vegas Michelle returns to her boring job only to find that the individual responsible to revitalizing her company is… KIRK! Without having exchanged more than first names and as impersonal anecdotes as possible what can a girl do when her supposed ONE night stand is thrust into her life for the immediate future!

Honeymoon for One is an enjoyable comedic contemporary romance. The characters are entertaining and engaging and you even get some occasional peeks into the life of Beth and Steven together when they run off immediately after telling Michelle the news and get married. Chris Keniston does a  terrific job of making you giggle and want to ride along with Michelle as she learns to ease up on her sister, forgive what at first seems unforgivable and realize that true love is not always comfortable and safe! 51qZtEQOBcL._BO2,204,203,200_PIsitb-sticker-arrow-click,TopRight,35,-76_AA278_PIkin4,BottomRight,-64,22_AA300_SH20_OU01_
