Sorry everyone, a sunny day or two and I simply get behind even further! So while the kids enjoy the backyard with its new kids pool and I hunt for information on France and Lions… enjoy a little more of our July 4th!
You overflow with images so!

July 4
Our first living here in Minnesota! You can check out our original post HERE where I shared a couple pictures… now for the actual run down on how we celebrated!
With the playset moved to the backyard and into the grass the mosquitoes were a greater concern than on Canada Day. We replaced our Canadian decorations with American flags and paperchains made by the kids. Thank goodness for bug spray and the tripod!
And then into the front yard for where our ornaments would stay on display for the day.
We had time after that for some running around before packing everyone up for a run to the lake. Our first of the year. Sadly the lake I had planned to go to was blocked off by the remnants of a parade… but we did make it to the lake we visited most often LAST summer.
I got a chance to wear the new swimsuit (please ignore the shoes… I totally hate the idea of leeches and at least they matched colours). I need to work on Victory Rolls for the hair !!!
The kids had a blast, even Echo eventually ventured into the water!
We came home in time to have a light late lunch and shower off…
Then back into our red, white and blue (or is that blue, white and red???)…
and a hop skip and a jump over to Bree and Scott’s to spend quality time with Quinn and Lily.
Ice cream Sundays for the win… add in Phineas and Ferb and the kids were over the moon.
Then home to bed… fireworks are not major for us. The kids thought our day was amazing! And that was more than enough for me. Happy Independence Day!
July 2-3
With only 2 days between Canada Day and Independence Day it was go go go to get our lapbook work done. But first… we had a CANADIAN lapbook to complete. We found our printable for the national anthem HERE thanks to Kidzone. Most of our printables came from Actvity Village HERE.
We also built our large Canadian puzzle. Sadly we are missing some pieces but nothing massive.
With the knowledge of papermaking firmly under our belts we took ANOTHER go at it. I am not sure how consistent we are getting but I do know that we are having HUGE amounts of fun doing it!
We have a rather amazing neighbourhood here. On Father’s Day we had a large ball pop after rolling into the road, well on the 2nd the man who was driving the truck came over, apologized and brought the kids ANOTHER ball!!! All I could say was, this was NOT necessary and THANK YOU for confirming that our babies did the RIGHT thing. There was NO running into the road, NO chasing the ball and LOTS of paying attention. I am one proud Momma!! And my babies are happy with TWO large balls (we had gone out and bought another the next day ourselves.).
Sean and Ken also moved the playset as it is to the backyard. There has been some great progress on it!
Echo has been working on what she calls “e”s.
The day before Independence Day was a great day for random crafts with the kids doing their paper craft creating while I was in the tub. I got out to some lovely themed items!
And then…. SURPRISE a visitor… well TWO! Bree and Lily! They had an errand near us and the yen for fancy coffee. So we ran the errand, got the coffee and then visited at the house while Bree made some necessary calls.
Yup, with Sean already here we had ourselves some new visitors… I got a relatively kid free outing and some awesome coffee… and the kids got their American info rolling. Not bad not bad.
