With the added surprise of mega blocks from Gammie… these were SKYLANDERS themed! So the boys were doubly excited! (The girls got Halloween outfits they will try on later in the month).

We had our Saturday fall  to pieces with work for Ken (plan wise) and with a day that was not as sunny as we had hoped we had to make do with inside fun… colouring books…101_4693

Games together…101_4696

Of course that didn’t stop us from our Sunday School session. Ken and the kids went and had a blast learning more and more about our faith. And Echo and I had a nice visit together, doing laundry… hanging out and enjoying the quiet together. Then it was off to McDonald’s with 4 special cone coupons….. Ice cream is truly affordable when only one needs to be paid for!101_4697With an afternoon of garden checking…101_4700

And building…101_4702

And a lucky find at Michaels for Echo’s costume…101_4698

Ken and I ended the weekend with good geeky tv AND Chinese take out! Delicious! 101_4703

Budding Egyptologists maybe?

September 23-25

The last full week of a month is always a bit of a rush. I do like to keep our bigger projects confined to a one month span… though that rarely happens when we get so interested or side tracked in answering questions and enjoying the subject matter. But first we drew what we would be if we could be ANYTHING for Halloween… we did this last year and again this year it was a blast to see what they came up with.101_4611

101_4612101_4613And then we dove right back into Ancient Egypt… there is no end to the fascinating things to see and learn about!!!101_4614

101_4615We also made our Fall poster… Gotta find those signs and be ready for the season!101_4619

Egyptian knowledge runs rampant this week… Tuesday was more books and discussion…101_4621

101_4620101_4622Pen pal letters to decorate…101_4625

And on Wednesday story time with the long absent (ok sleeping in Echo’s bed flat as a board) Fat Sheep.101_4629

I love watching the kids all hard at work.101_4630

So to reward them we made some yummy chocolate rice krispie squares!101_4632

And so we make it to midweek intact and tummy full of treats!101_4616

And The World Keeps Turning…

September 16-18

The day after a big visit like we had over the weekend is always a bit of a drag. So I kept it relatively light school wise and had the kids jump right into their journals and drawing special pictures from their favourite moments of the weekend.101_4556

101_4558101_4559The kids even took initiative and during my bath played a rather quiet and surprisingly battle free game of Carcassonne! Team work, problem solving, math… it was all there and all their choice!101_4560

With a new week it was also time to start a new topic … EGYPT, though of course we still need to finish off the lions. That will take a little time and I want Egypt going and at least mostly done before all our library books are no longer able to be renewed.101_4561

We are still enjoying the Grandma braids. I really need to learn how to French braid!101_4562

On Tuesday my boys were HUGE helpers and made their lunches and the lunches for the girls! All I had to do was put everything on the table. They do love being independent.101_4563

I am so impressed by how hard the kids are working on things. Sometimes even offering to do extra of this or colour one more thing. It really does offset the rest of the frustrations and arguments.101_4565

Some mornings earlier and in better moods than others!

Early morning cartoons!

Early morning cartoons!

Though on Wednesday we did start on some amazing Egyptian tales!101_4568

101_4569101_4570The kids even created us an Egyptian themed centerpiece for our table all out of Lego!!101_4572

And had a visit from a lovely fairy…101_4574

It amazes me what the kids can make from Legos… this piano and guitar were Gavin’s brainchild.101_4578

On we go, after a good bye are always more Hellos101_4567
