Styracosaurus

Another waaaaay back when resource post. Hopefully all live links and helpful to someone! Emanuel has been such a helpful push to make me research some very interesting creatures:

Back to the dinosaurs… this time a rather interesting herbivore called the Styracosaurus. Walking on 4 legs, this dinosaur had a series of spiked along its frill. It also had two spikes above its eyes. Hatched from an egg, this Cretaceous period dinosaur is believed to have roamed in herds. The Styracosaurus was found in North America and probably reacted to predators much like the current rhino. Not the smartest or the largest it definitely has an impressive skull and frill!

Now for our brief video… sadly my German is too rusty to make heads or tails of the facts they are sharing. But it is an interesting 3D rendition of our herbivore.

Tylosaurus

Well shoot, no cute kid pics, but a good set of resources for an animal straight out of the cretaceous period and myself one step closer to a cleaned out draft folder!! Enjoy!

Dinosaurs are a staple in our homeschooling life… I think Emanuel is a life long addict to the world of the prehistoric. The Tylosaurus is a rather interesting ocean dweller. Considered to have born live babies and been an active carnivore It was far from the top of the food chain. Found in the shallow seas of what is now North America this Cretaceous period critter is quite the interesting character. This Mososaur “knob lizard” was not a dinosaur but lived along side of them.

Our video is from Prehistoric World 2013… Sea Monsters a Prehistoric Journey(2007).

Dolichorhynchops

When life gets sunny and busy …. we walked two miles to the YMCA and two miles BACK HOME after spending 3 hours at various activities this past Tuesday… I run to my backlog… and it is time to get these dinos out! Enjoy! Sorry there isn’t a picture at the end but the resources are there for the using!

Emanuel has turned his focus from the land to the water… there are some absolutely nightmare inspiring critters from the time of the dinosaurs that lived  in the oceans! This short-necked plesiosaur had 4 flippers to propel itself through the water. Found in the Cretaceous period this marine reptile had a long and narrow jaw lined with sharp teeth. Nicknamed Dolly, the Dolichorhynchops is found all over North America. While they look like reptiles there are some resources that state they are definitely dinosaurs.

We have TWO videos this time… Sea Monsters 3 from National Geographic.

And Sea Monsters A Prehistoric Adventure 2007 from PrehistoricWorld2013.

And now for our links, there are a few articles I am including that we did not read through, but they may be interested for the older dinosaur fanatic! Enjoy!
