Examining October

Well, you can already see pictures from Halloween HERE, as usually it was a fun time.

Echo’s wedding dress photos are HERE.

October was also Ken’s birthday… his 40th if you can believe it! We kept it low key, just as the birthday boy requested. He is not a big party animal. But he also was given an award for his hard work involved in getting his mental health under control and advocating for the association that helped him. We got to dress up and everything!20171005_183253

It was a fun sort of duo season month with time to jump in leaves (and rake them up, slightly less fun)…20171023_132448

We even had TWO foreign visitors, Jeff flew down from Canada to hang out. Never a bad thing, friends and family flying down when we still can’t return ourselves.20171024_170421

With Jeff there is ALWAYS yummy curry.

And Karyn!!! A shorter visit than her normal yearly visit but we packed in the fun and hugs and … shopping of course!20171010_115528

We had our yearly pumpkin patch trip with our friend Trish and her two kids. Always fun and thankfully on a day when the weather mostly cooperated.

I am so grateful that Trish is willing to embrace our loud and crazy family.

Summer Baby Showers

Yes, plural! I was lucky enough to be invited to 2 baby showers this summer… one with the gender known, the other not. Shandai and Ravyn were celebrating their upcoming baby at Ravyn’s parent’s house. A new cousin for my 5! They are pumped, mainly Trinity and Echo. But, a new family member is always cause for excitement. IMG_20170617_174434_958

I made sure to make baby something special. Though MANY of my fair pieces were also slated to go to baby. IMG_20170617_174534_475

The other shower we were invited to was also a first baby… baby girl! Of course, as I get closer to current you will see pictures of the little darling. Darcy hosted, so of course we came early to help (it was a last minute venue move). The guys made themselves scarce until it ended and the kids had a blast outside. 20170603_144344

As with my new unknown darling, I made baby girl a little something something as well. Both sets of gifts were well received which warms this crafter’s heart. 20170603_130554

Anyway – keep an eye peeled for the baby pics later. Darcy has been very sweet about sharing her time with Sophia’s baby with me.

They were just too cute together. Had to share BOTH pictures. I really love the whole Novak family, but Anthony has a special place in my heart.

Happy Canada Day!

July 1st is our yearly opportunity to be very visible and very Canadian. This year was a little different… Emanuel was still away at the Scout Camp with his friend Aidan until the evening. So we did our usual photo shoot with a twist.20170701_094925

There was a meet up with our homeschool friends for some swimming or club (kid’s choice) with Nate and Bella as well. 20170701_105006

We TRIED to head to the zoo but apparently it was the day to go. So instead we turned around and headed to our favourite beach. Since the weather was a little on the cool side and cloudy it wasn’t packed. We didn’t spend much time in the water but really enjoyed the sand.

On the way there we stopped at our 3rd Tim Hortons so far. This one is rather close to the Novak’s house. I actually meet what I assume is an owner of one of the franchise. After a lovely conversation about the new stores and my coming from Canada to Minnesota he comped us 40 Tim Bits!!! So I left that store with 80 Tim Bits, an Ice Cap and a wonderful experience.IMG_20170701_162643_194

After a visit with the family and delivery of their Canadian goodies it was off to McDonald’s (Echo’s request after the aborted trip to the zoo).20170701_185250

We rounded off our Canada Day with a table of Canadian sweets. Ken made traditional and mint Nanaimo Bars (we had to order the custard powder off Amazon), Maple Cookies sent by a friend, and Tim Bits. Not bad! Next year buttertarts?IMG_20170701_211904_989
