Happy Birthday Aidan!

July 5-7

What to do on the Friday after Independence Day? We were not lucky enough to have a full day off for Ken… and he had to take time off on top of that to drive Sean to the airport mid day. It was a really weird feeling to say good bye to our houseguest of 18 days… It was like letting go of a part of Canada, our past, our shared history all over again. Weird how it all comes back suddenly! Miss you all back home up north!!

BUT of course that couldn’t stop our Independence Day lapbook completions… we had a family book and then each of the twins had an additional on their own so it was a little time consuming but the end result was lovely! Of course I made a resource blog post HERE.101_3240

We had our own fairie dancing around and everything…101_3242

And then in the end mommy caved and the gaming commenced… they were sweet enough to let ECHO have a turn!101_3245

We also had to take a peek at the garden out back… we are a little slow in the progress due to funky weather but growing wild now!

Now the 6th was a rather important day – AIDAN’S birthday party!! The youngest Novak is officially SEVEN! And what a party was it!101_3298

But first, the first Saturday of the month… which means a stop off at Home Depot for the monthly craft – making little cars shaped like something from the Despicable Me 2 movie. Boy was Echo ticked that she was too young to get involved!101_3255

101_3257Darcy contacted us in the morning asking we come early so Ken could play errand boy which gave him and Anthony some bonding time on the road.101_3258

There was a bouncy castle, a pinata, balloons…101_3259

A slip and slide to boot!101_3325

101_3278What a party. We met a lovely family of 4 soon to be 5 that ALSO homeschool with 3 girls all around Trinity’s age. It was great fun to sit and share stories of escapades and large families.101_3311

I think Aidan had a blast and I know our wee ones ran themselves into exhaustion.

Check out sneaky Echo in the bouncy castle during gift opening. If other kids were in it it was just too much for her.

Although Ken made it out the door to work on the playset some more the very next day… the whole day really… unstoppable. The kids are over the moon with the progress!101_3330

Monday Once Again

Well by request we have taken an extra day off of our schooling. Instead the boys spent the morning recreating their version of the party piñata using Pepsi boxes. Restful and apparently great fun. It was just too hot for our kids to be out after the weekend we had.

Our Pepsi box pinata apparently

I have been working on the bows for the wedding. There is a minor problem – out of the two bags of ribbon I was sent only two rolls work… so I will have to get around to running to the store and sourcing out some more… at least I KNOW that Walmart has the satin I need for the secondary smaller bow. I am, of course, using the stacked bow that I do for Trinity’s stuff only instead of 3 or more ribbons doing just 2. I checked today while out with the family… they had something like the regular white satin I used in my prototype at the larger Walmart. I need to make 60 in total (so 120 bows) and I am thinking I may get almost 20 out of the red and gold… but at least it is a start!

A lovely pile of bow shaped ribbon

I took the leap and used the last of my birthday money, and some out of my fix the iTouch fund and got a new (and relatively inexpensive) camera. Definitely NOT a Canon, but a 14 mexa pixel Olympus. It is currently charging but I feel much… safer… having a new and 100% working camera. I also sold another Kijiji item so that will go back to building up my iTouch fund!

We actually ran a few errands before Ken had to be off to meet up with Fydo and go to a boardgame night. We stopped off at Walmart to get a different version of the “prinpress” shoes. Not sequinned but pink and shiny enough to make our Trinity happy!

Not the best picture sorry

We also picked up my KodakGalleryprints. 50 free prints. So now if I can clear my table off of  the card making stuff I should be able to get some work in on the kids’ books.

My pictures!

That just leaves the appointment on Wednesday for me to worry about… we got our confirmation call so that is all good. There are a few OTHER things for the week but that is what weighs the heaviest right now. At least my sunburn is less.. burny!

Snack break!
