If I Could Bottle Up Sunshine and Save it For Winter… That Would be Amazing!

I have a certain amount of frustration with the concept of “having patience.” I know it is necessary and very good characteristic to have and to nurture but so difficult and elusive. There are so many “on the go” things and things that will be done “in due time,” what I would really love is to have a list written out and be crossing off each and every item and DONE. So many things to rush around in the brains

  1. find a rental – Ken says Friday latest all resolved… I say NOW NOW NOW PLEASE
  2. pack the house – with 7 people still living here… grrr
  3. fix the van – could it please be free?
  4. catch up on laundry (it never REALLY ends)
  5. sort out Echo’s genetic testing (work in progress, slow but consistent interminable progress)
  6. …..

There are more I am sure, but of those items I can control and cross off… well NONE right now… I am a born and raised “fixer” and “finisher” this incomplete and half done list drives me BONKERS!

I have FINALLY started a new self designed piece. I am not going to say what it is just post pictures as I go along but it should be a relatively SHORT piece to make. I just love having the odd short term project to focus on (aka a lovely COMPLETION to feel good about!).

To date...

The kids have felt the urge to do anything about as much as I have… we are struggling to agree as to how much school work is truly necessary. We had one last printed out worksheet that I WANTED done… so the agreement is, they finish, we have a fun day tomorrow.

With the weather being so lovely I am debating dragging out the kids’ swimsuits and the sprinkler. I need to stop in at the baby store the next time we visit my mom and pick up the next size up washable swimpant for Trinity though. It is just so much more reasonable than the disposables. Once we get settled in the new city it is time to make the BIG push for swim lessons for the boys as well! I am hoping we can find some sort of deal to make them more affordable.

With some bored kids who had seen too much sun lately I figured I would have them stay in and work on one of the large colouring posters Grandma found for them when Gavin was away for Easter. Working together was a bit of a struggle, especially with Echo in the middle of her late afternoon nap. But we managed.

Trinity opted out and instead went back to her old standby – play doh.

PRINCESS play doh

We got a call today from the University Hospital with an appointment to see a paediatrician our own doctor has referred us to. This seems to be our dietician type thing. They just want to go over her (again) and check her out for themselves. The nurse seemed surprised (yet again) that she has this weight issue but is fine otherwise… her head and length are on their curves, she is eating well, pooping, peeing, feeding herself, rolling over, sleeping fine, smiling, starting to try crawling, trying to stand, working on pulling to sit… she is fine… just weighs so little… BUT next Friday we are off to THIS office… it looks like we will take EVERYONE this time. Not my first choice, but I figure as it looks to be her LAST appointment here in the city before we move… well I want to be there.

We have finally figured out a solution to our ongoing voicemail issues – we got rid of it! So now we have to be extra diligent checking for calls as we do turn the ringer off at time for either naps or so Ken can get work done faster. We do have caller display at least.

So with the new phone call, cranky kids and the clear awareness that we are closing in on move date I am a wee bit… well… frazzled. Time to stitch my heart out and take a break from reality.
