Crying Infant and a Workplace Injury

Last night was a LONG, tough night. Ken left for work as usual though we had issues with getting the kids to sleep. I did manage to get some things done and then around 1:30 decided to go to bed. That is when I heard the door open – Ken had dropped a palatte on his foot! OUCH thankfully none of his toes are broken, it did not fall on his big toe directly but he cut up one of his toes and bruised most of them rather severly. So out came the rubbing alcohol, swabs and bandaids. He is still hobbling a little today and calling in to say he will not be at work since walking around today just to get groceries and the last of our gifts caused the cut toe to bleed again. He plans on picking up another shift later this month. Poor guy.
Now the crying infant – Emanuel had a VERY rough night last night. After about 4 or 5 am he just could not sleep. Screaming for no apparent reason, thrashing around to get comfortable… it was a long night for us. Today he was rather tired and tonight we had to fight to get him to sleep. All three boys have mild colds – runny noses and sneezing but nothing horrible thank goodness. I just hope this is a quick cold.
Tomorrow the Den Otters are supposed to come over for a Christmas meal and then we are all going to our church’s choir concert. I went to M&M’s and got our lasagne and garlic bread, I have the lettuce and dressing for salad and we picked up some two bite brownies. hopefully I can get everyone fed and cleaned up in time for the concert. Early dinner I think what with the concert being at 7 and I estimate we need to be at the church by 6:45 so we can get settled and organized. Not that the twins will stick around long, I bet they are in the nursery before it is half over.
I stopped and got a snowman at what used to be Radio Shack that you plug into your USM port and it changes colour in time to some snippets of Christmas music. The boys love it. We also took the kids to the dollar store to pick out a gift for their Grandma Anna (my mom)… $10.00 of red garland… I have no idea what she will do with it, but they wanted to get it. Better than the two flashlight batteries we had them put back. I am not sure they really understood the concept but they had fun going up and down the aisles looking at everything.
I must brag a little – tonight I FINALLY hit level 60 in WoW – with my priest Anahita… after that I went directly to get my epic mount. I had over 950 gold when I levelled, 50 short of my original goal of 1000 gold BUT more than enough for the new mount and training to ride it. So now I am going onto another server that Ken’s boss/friend Jeff has a guild in to play a brand new character and for once NOT a priest. I think I will do the Christmas quests with Anahita and then wait to play her further when the expansion comes out and any killing I do will help me level to the new topper – 70… and a FLYING mount.
We had the boys decorate foam stockings I had gotten at Michaels and put them up on their door – we also did one up for Emanuel (Ken tried to get him to put stickers on his but he really was not interested) and I finally got the binder clips to put the first of our cards up on my ribbons in the livingroom so the place is basically decorated. There are tons of presents under the tree – many I need to get sent out to people – sorry everyone, with postage being so expensive most of our gifts and more than a few of our cards are going to make it to you AFTER Christmas, but they WILL get there. We still need to decide what kind of a photo gift we are getting Ken’s folks, but we plan on doing that AFTER Christmas. Wednesday we need to get everything but the ham (we got that today) for our Christmas dinner but we are basically ready – well I am – I am rather sure Ken still needs to shop for me.
Ken and Jeff went to Zellars this morning to buy his Wii but they did not get their shipment in, so I guess the guys will be going when the store opens on Monday (they do not get shipments in on weekends) with the hope of getting one. You cannot pre-buy it is all first come first served. So fingers crossed. Our new tv from Dell gets here on Wednesday so Ken is really hoping his Wii will get here by then.
One week and it is Christmas – where has that time gone???

Ipod Nanos and Heater Valves

…And now for the continuation of last night’s adventures… around 1:30 the noise happened AGAIN so I gave up, moved the twins into our bed and the three of us bedded down for the night… with their new large stuffed dogs of course. Of course we had some crying and wiggling around and they woke up the baby once – thankfully he spent the night in his crib. I got out of bed to go to the bathroom after Ken had gotten home from his night job and Zander hopped out of our bed and scared the crud out of Ken in the livingroom! After that Ken came to bed with us and the 4 of us squished into our Queen sized bed which promply felt like it had shrunk down to a double. It was really NOT a restful night.
I had someone come in and look at it this morning, he replaced the valve which is in the twins’ room, of course Gavin being over tired freaked out when the man came to fix it. So far I have heard a noise in there once but it was not nearly as piercing and Gavin did not run screaming. All good signs. They did have a nice long nap too – in their cribs no less.
Karyn came over to visit today and met us at Swiss Chalet in the city when Ken and I went up and she left here. It was slow service but the food was great as usual. After dinner we went to Toys’R’Us for some Christmas cash shopping for the kids and then off to Best Buy where I got my gift with my Christmas money – an Ipod Nano!!! Blue of course! I have wanted an Ipod for over a year now. It was a little more than my share of the money but Ken said that was fine. Now I just need to figure the thing out… This one even lets me put pictures on it!!
All 3 kids are in bed, Ken is home and all is good in the Reinsch-Johnson home. I always feel better when Ken is home. Any emergencies are much easier to handle when he is here to help out.
What else is there to say… I think I am going to try and figure out how to put some songs on my Ipod and then off to bed I go. Sleep well everyone!

Temper Temper

Have you ever felt as if it would be best to let the kids just cry and cry rather than go into their room angry? Well I am at that point now. We had a rather pleasant afternoon once the twins woke up from their naps and then in the evening they went to my mom’s and we did some shopping and then visited Jeff and Amanda and their kids. I really do like their new house’s set up. Their kitchen is HUGE and Jeff is putting the finishing touches on a wonderful theatre room in the basement… anyway…
We got home rather late, an hour before Ken needed to leave for work, we put the twins to bed and Ken went to have a bath. Now they had settled rather well when all of a sudden Gavin started to SCREECH! The heaters in their room were making this high pitched rather painful ringing. It stopped and we got them all settled again and then a few minutes later it happened AGAIN! Ken got them settled before he left for work. Soon after I was feeding the baby and AGAIN with the noise! So I took the twins out of their room, tried to call the landlord – no answer and then called my mom. Still no idea what to do I went with the twins into their room, read some stories and then back in the cribs. They were certainly not impressed about it. I turned up their soothing music and hoped for the best. Well tonight is NOT my lucky night. Every time Zander has basically fallen asleep Gavin cries or screams.
I have changed a poopy bum, tucked and re tucked in, given a special teddy each, cuddles, hugs, more tucking in, even spankings and NOTHING. At this point I could feel myself getting VERY angry – my voice getting more and more agressive and just not feeling reasonable anymore, so I went in ONE LAST TIME, told them NO MORE, tucked them in AGAIN and closed the door. I can still hear Gavin crying off and on but I think if I were to go back in I would just lose my temper. I really have no idea what to do. He stops crying for the time I am in there but then I leave and he starts again. I am not about to stay in there with him all night and the sound has stopped. If it was the ringing I would hear TWO little voices.
In the back of my head there is always that fear that if I do NOT go in there one of them could be seizing or something equally as horrible… I just wish bedtime in general was easier. What amazes me is EMANUEL – his crib is right up along the shared wall and he has slept through the whole thing!!! Go figure.
I am pretty sure that this is just angry Gavin… the crying has gotten briefer and less volume. But now I am wound up! Oh well and of course tonight Ken works…
Well tomorrow we are off to the city to do some shopping and have a nice relaxing dinner – with Emanuel of course. Life goes on right? And things WILL get better – we WILL find a bigger place I just know it.
