Telling a Story on an M Themed Day

Mondays always start a little slow for this family. Trinity did NOT sleep well last night, we ended up moving her into bed with me around midnight and then she tossed and turned all night keeping me semi awake as well. This booted Ken to the couch. Thankfully when she did wake up for good this morning Ken was able to take her so I could get an hour in of decent sleep. The best I can figure is she is getting some more teeth in.

The letter of the day was M. Monkey was a favourite as was mammoth once I explained it to them. There was even and extra bit of work to be done colouring apples with either lower case or capital M’s on them to be cut apart and go in colour coordinated barrels. Emanuel had a bit of trouble staying interested that long BUT was easily engaged again by moving to the computer bit. Mmm

We did have a bit of a scuffle over Pocoyo and Elly… they ARE Emanuel’s stuffies but Trinity has fallen in love with them too! So I had to get Emanuel to ok her carrying around Pocoyo for a while so I could return Elly and her backpack to him. She also adores the cartoon and the little car toys Emanuel has in the same theme. I wish I could get my hands on more of the toys as the show is definitely Emanuel and Trinity’s favourites.

Mail was very favourable today for the most part. Ken did get something in regards to a parking incident at the government building but otherwise all good. In the morning we got a decent sized box – my scanner for the Neilsen researchers. My mom did this years ago – you scan all your purchases and do the odd survey, once a week this is transmitted to Neilsen which gives you points that you can then apply towards whatever reward you want. I like it because it really makes you face your shopping habits as well as keep yourself organized – hanging onto reciets until they can be entered etc etc. I already got to scan some groceries – we needed milk – fun!

This afternoon we got a postcard! From Miss Esther in Grenada. I love postcards and letters! And this one with an address so we can send her a note and maybe some art by the kids!

I am still on the hunt for a math lapbook. There is lots of resources but just a 1-10 book seems to be a needle in the haystack. I am not sure if I am just missing something or lost in space but right now I have not found a full lapbook that would work for our boys. I want to redo each number to try and get it better into their minds. Right now they are not really committed to properly going through them – lazy maybe? I just know that the lapbook set we are doing right now with the alphabet is working! HELP!

Our other big project was to “write” a story about our Saturday with Grandma. All 3 boys dictated as I wrote it out. Tomorrow I plan on having each boy do an illustration (our art time was spent painting more puzzle pieces by request today! Black paint is so messy – Zander this time.).

Our Visit With Grandma

We went to the corn maze with Grandma and Mike. We played. We saw chickens, bunnies, ducks, donkeys and calves. Donkeys like carrots. We fed them some. We found corn and walked in the corn. We looked for number signs. One had fallen down.

We like Grandma’s house. We played there. We played with blocks outside. Harley played outside with us. Mike and Grandma were at the house. We ate there. We ate hot dogs, salad and chocolate cake. We made the cake.

We had a bath at Grandma’s house. Trinity had a bath with Emanuel. Harley watched us.

We had lots of fun. We love Grandma and Mike. We went home when it was dark.

I am also finding out glue sticks (Ross brand) SUCKS… so I asked my two homeschooling egroups and both agreed – we need to get UHU. So as soon as I can budget it in we are so going to get them! Not sticky enough glue sticks are so frustrating!

We finally got a free sample left on the door that I WANT to try – chocolate Nature Valley bars!

So today was a definite good day. Ken is posting my patterns as I type, I finished another stitch – a second gift for Ada – this one in Mandarin – I Love You it says. Ken and Sean dropped it off for me! So back to work on the stocking for me. I really have to get going on my laundry list of projects – wedding sampler, birth sampler (After Christmas commission), Baby Quinn, a Harley Davidson sampler… the list goes on and on… but our patterns are increasing! It feels good to be productive though now I have to hunt down aida 14 count on the cheap… ACK – you used to be able to buy it by the metre at Walmart until they dropped their fabric section. Makes me miss Jo-Ann’s – they are only in the States.

Chris and Chris came by after their weekend of fun… with a Science Project for the boys! Grow colour changing jelly crystals. Ken and the boys are going to have a blast with them tomorrow! Their first science project of our official Kindergarten year! Exciting!

Life is really not half bad is it? Things are ok, life is returning to normal and my kids love me… what more could I ask for? Ok so there ARE things I want but you know what? I am pretty privileged with what I have!
