A Rainy Tuesday

So today was basically a “Mommy Out of Commission Day.” Thankfully Ken was able to step in and pick up the slack (ok so NOT totally thankful, it would be so much better for us if he could NOT have done so but at least with the scenario we are going through right now we are taking advantage of that in a positive way).

The letter Y was put on the back-burner so that they could discover more interesting things about insects. Today the book was Insecto-Files again… I think they are hinting at something??

I have printed off some of the stuff we need for a variety of this month’s lapbooks which seems to be working out nicely. Today’s little extra titbit really had no book to go into but was fun anyway. This was a book I found on a new website – Christian Preschool Printable. This one was called The Fruit of the Spirit and based on Galatians 5: 22-23. Gavin took special time to colour each fruit the proper colour and in the lines!

We had another special trip out today to the Dollarama. The boys each got to get ONE treat that was 1.00. It was a definite difficult choice but they each ended up happily with some sort of car or vehicle. I got Trinity a little Halloween teddy bear as she chose that over a book but she kept throwing it on the floor (thanks Uncle Sean for the new throwing game) so I had to put it up for now. We went in with a strict 20.00 budget and out of there with just under 19.00 spent and a couple of ideas for stocking stuffers we will pick up later on. I did get some more glitter, fabric covered brads and Ken picked out some craft bags to sort some of our supplies into.

Weather wise we are well into fall now. Today had wind warnings and rain… a nasty combination that kept the boys indoors… this meant that during my much needed afternoon nap they had to go into the basement and run wild. Not a bad thing in and of itself but a HORRIBLE thing to them when it is time to CLEAN UP! I wonder when it will sink in that if they take out LESS at a time that will leave them LESS to clean out in the end?

So Wednesday looks to be a busy one, I should have a new pattern to start and need to come up with designs for at least 3 more couples. I started my first batch of baked beans tonight – I plan on posting the recipe tomorrow. I am back to work on the little monsters for my very own monsters… this one is green and called “Little Monster,” I still need to find books or something to put them on but the boys have been asking that Mommy sew them something too so I am determined they will each  get their own stitch for Christmas!

I am trying a different direction on our planning… instead of the weekly plan, I am thinking of sorting lapbooks out in advance. Printing out everything we need and slipping them into a labelled folder. That way instead of a daily goal we could have a weekly goal – a date to have each lapbook done. I also want to hunt down some workbooks for the boys to do at their own speed. Emanuel has two that my mom had gotten him that I plan on starting with him next week. Very basic and I am rather sure he knows most of it already but reinforcement is a good way to start!

We are looking at changing up our pattern page… maybe offering some more patterns at a dollar or two donation a piece… who knows.
