Day Before Easter Fun!

Day 2 of Easter activities. Today was the Michaels Free Family Event… decorating plastic sandbuckets (with shovels) with foam stickers. We went with the den Otter family and had a blast! All 6 kids decorated their own bucket, and on the way home from the store Trinity UN-decorated hers… I have to go through my foam stickers and see if I can redo her name which she totally dessicated.

After our craft session we headed home for an extended play-date with Isabella and Alexander. Lots of fun for the kids and restful for the adults… once we kicked the kids to the basement playroom or outside. Dinner consisted of egg salad sandwiches and ham and pepperoni sandwiches… not sure how well the egg salad went over but we gave it a go.

Backyard Fun! (Isabella and Alexander)

Here is the recipe I used for egg salad sandwiches:

7 hard boiled eggs

1/2 cup of Miracle whip

1/4 tsp paprika

celery

green onion

salt and pepper to taste.

We minced up the green onion and celery and mashed up the egg and mixed it all together. Put on bread with a piece of lettuce. Just like my mom use to make!

LUNCH! (Zander red)

Tonight’s creative endeavour was a big one – I managed to finished the two tutus for a friend from high school’s almost 4 yr old daughter. Two very different styles… Since her daughter loves Tinker Bell I started with one along that theme. I got some embellishment butterflies to add to the whimsy. I have to say this is one of my favourites to date and may even make one for Trinity when she is a little bigger.

The second I feel is more “ballerina,” two layers of tulle the same length with the ribbon wrapped waist. With this one I used pastel pink, a nice purple and a maroon. I love the “poof” of this version of knotted tutu. I really hope the waist is going to work for them, I know from experience that if the child tugs SUPER hard on the tutus then you have to readjust the knots after but since they are for play it won’t matter too much – after all you really don’t see the waist to begin with.

The boys and Ken had a completion craft wise as well! The Bunny and Chicken lapbook finally is completed. Nothing to fancy but they had a blast sorting it all out and helping glue things down. Of course on the cover the Perler bead bunny and chicken they did previously. Which is all currently waiting in our bookbag to go to Grandma’s for show and tell!

Inside of Lapbook. The four folded pieces are full page activities folded up, the pictures are their interpretation on bunnies and chickens, the flower is two things they wanted to share about bunnies.

Back cover, chick in egg.

So the next big project with a deadline for yours truly? A wedding present for my cousin’s wedding. This one is based on her sister’s suggestions and should be fun to stitch. I may even post the pattern up for sale on the site later!

So Easter finally comes tomorrow and with it a day trip to my mom’s. So I am not sure if I will have an update tomorrow or not. But I will hopefully get some sweet photos over the day to share when I can!
