Working out the Details

My newest challenge has proven to be a BIG one for me. Coming from the position of being perpetually UNDERweight since a very young age, diagnosed with anaemia since I was 16 or so my doctor has always prescribed a diet high in carbs and red meats. The red meats are not the suggested meat to eat with this new diet – chicken and fish are, and LARGE amounts of carbs – big no no. So I am working out what is ok to eat and what is too much. I managed TWO days of perfect numbers and then had a late breakfast today that was disjointed – egg and toast and then I had to wait due to kids etc almost 20 min to have my oatmeal and milk… I figure too much time, too many carbs… it is all a learning experience.

According to the Canadian Diabetes site I have about 2 weeks or so to try and sort this out using diet and exercise before the insulin can come into play. I want to give myself the best chance possible to avoid the use of insulin. I have to admit the worry about diet is causing no small amount of stress which in turn has my stomach a little less than settled. Add to that the increased walking and I am just hoping I am doing enough eating to regain the weight I had previously lost (4lbs lost when I should have been gaining… this puts me behind 8lbs…). This is all completely new to me, I have never had to watch what I eat (luckily) and now am attempting to learn how.

Luckily though I am having an off day the kids are not. This morning the boys worked on their two ongoing lapbooks – Gardening and Camping, and then Ken took the twins to the library for today’s program – Zoo Animals at the library. Apparently there were TWO animals – an armadillo and a snake. Ken was not able to get pictures as they had a strict number limit so only the kids were allowed in. BUT the boys drew pictures of their experiences. I am so glad we are able to sign them up for these activities… free and time consuming with educational thrown in!

Hard at work (Zander left)

We also opened up the Pocoyo puzzle my sister in law Holly’s mother sent for the kids when she was up from Texas. That caused quite the stir! Along with some bracelets and necklaces I found in the beads in the craft cupboard (do I ever need to clean that out ASAP… I want my de-cluttering done BEFORE baby.). Trinity is swimming in pretties right now!

Trinity and her Pretties

The rest of our week is a bit hectic, the house has to be cleaned for Sunday’s baby shower, I have my early Wednesday clinic appointment (no kids allowed), my Friday doctor’s appointment and HOPEFULLY the boys will get to camp in the backyard Wednesday night. The weekend is full – I have a friend coming Friday night until Saturday, Anna’s baby shower and then OUR baby shower. Hopefully after that and the week of VBS etc we will have a bit of down time. Life just keeps on rushing!

Oh and I DID get another page done for Trinity!
