Christmas Preparations Begun

We are one sleep away from our family photos… thank goodness he is coming here as the van is not yet at our home. BUT we are keeping hope for the end of the week… in fact I am COUNTING on it at this point… pesky doctor appointment has come back around… same dilemma different day!

The kids have been busy, painting, crafting and working on winter themed worksheets. I am still printing black and white so the boys each got a Canadian flag to colour and then Gavin and I read the entry in our atlas about Canada. Tomorrow we are hoping to get the time to colour the full sized traced out bodies of each of the kids before labelling where you use all of our senses.

We got our tree put up in the living room and I have started decorating, we have one more box of decorations to hunt down, oh and the burnt out lightbulbs to find. Seems we have a few dead branches this time round.

Starting with the tree

I have been working on my nephew’s stocking… I have the toe done, some of the cross hatching and have started on the heel. Still hoping on finishing it before the end of the week. Depends on how much time Echo lets me have hands free!

Stocking to date

Last night Ken and I finished up some of the nylon stocking headbands. I have a few more to finish off and some more ribbons to deal with but I have a good start on the pieces I want to give the girls this year for Christmas. I wish I could have found all the colours I needed for the rest of my projects on Sunday. 3/8th ribbon is sometimes hard to pin down!

Completed headbands

The boys got front row seats for the city cutting down the two trees in front of our house. They were marked to be cut down months ago and we just lucked out and were home. The guy doing it even took a moment to wave at them!

My project for tonight is to hunt down the pictures I plan on using for a mini book for Echo, a project I saw on the Martha Stewart show a year or so ago (don’t ask… bored and stuck at the in-laws in the middle of the day). I plan on making one for Trinity too… I just need to pick up the metal rings.

So with a bunch of cleaning to do before our photographer gets here I am hoping to find enough time in my day to spend quality moments with each of  the kids. We have been stuck inside due to extreme cold (like -30 Celsius) and everyone is getting a little owly!

Fast asleep
