Starting the Week off in Our USUAL Style

The learning curve in this house is pretty constant for kids AND the adults… so Zander… (wow is that becoming a common “naughty boy” starting point to a story ACK) anyway…

Over the weekend Ted had brought over some chocolates and left them here to be eaten. Well this morning I grabbed a couple for a snack and then went and had my bath. Hours later Ken went back to the table to grab a treat (I know I know – here is the ADULT life lesson…) and all of a sudden a HUGE portion are gone. So note to self – no food left out! Ok so who is the culprit???? Well we know who it WASN’T – with those sorts of chocolates the two little ones could NOT get away clean and free… so that left the twins. With Emanuel adamantly suggesting that Zander just “tell the truth” it took threatening their Christmas present to get the whole story… of the 16 or so wrappers (yes SIXTEEN!) found Gavin owned up to 2… so either Gavin ate more than he is admitting or Zander is going to have one nasty tummy tonight.

The punishment – well for Ken… considerably LESS chocolates… for the twins – grounded for the rest of the day. Which is frustrating as Ken was going to take them outside to play in the backyard in the snow. They had to clean their room AND playroom, and then spend some extensive time thinking about how they are NOT to just eat things off counters and tables. Especially since some things can cause tummy aches or worse.

We would not have had such a strict punishment except they lied first! It is really the lying that hurts us the most. I would much rather they told the truth than lied. But definitely lesson learned on Ken’s party – no more treats left out!!!!

Anyway… beyond that excitement our day has been quiet. This morning we said farewell to our rental. Funny how just having a vehicle for 48 hours does a lovely job of reinforcing how lovely it is to HAVE a vehicle. Did I mention it was a Grand Caravan (/shudder). So we are back to being grounded  for the next few days. Thank goodness Sean is not off to his folks’ until Christmas Eve… and that he loves baking in return for the use of his car!

I am still having trouble wrapping my mind around the fact that it is less than a week until Christmas. I feel pretty ready… though there are still those unfinished projects. The kids are getting more and more excited as we run down the days on our calendars.

I got a package today! Bree spoils me so… Ken had me open it right up! A brand new, girly, Gerber diaper bag. I have a very simple generic gender neutral one I bought before the baby was born. Now we are done up in style.

Thank you!!

With the twins under in house arrest when Ken went out to shovel he took Trinity and Emanuel with him. It was a brief excursion, I think it took longer to get them both kitted up, but they had fun. There is something about an almost 3 yr old bundled up that is beyond cute!

All dressed up and ready to go

Cooooold

Now the rest of the evening is catch up – laminating ornaments, tidying up after the party weekend, hopefully some sewing and labelling yesterday’s pictures. I have already posted my favourites onto deviantArt.

I was a little put out that the twins acted up today, I had a craft in mind and everything. I guess tonight I should just do the best prep work I can and hope their behaviour improves enough to do it as a family tomorrow.

Emanuel tried out his gift from the den Otter family before bed – Pixos. A little frustrating at times, placing the little balls… but Emanuel enjoyed himself.

During the twin free afternoon Trinity tried on her faerie costume (also from the den Otters). She has a Tinkerbell costume she got for her birthday this year I have to convince her to try on too!

Pretty Faerie

And to end the entry here are TWO videos of the boys during their concert on Sunday!!! Enjoy!

  1. I’m so glad you liked it! Now if only the other gift would show up… it’s well after Christmas now, you’d think they’d start filling their back-orders soon!
