April 13 = 8 Months With Echo

We have quickly fallen into a new daily routine now that the weather has turned favourable. Every morning the boys put their sweaters and boots on and run wild in the backyard. Then they work on whatever KEN has set up for their homeschooling and then after lunch back outside. Today they tried making their own charts and graphs for Daddy to make pictures like they did on their worksheets. We have not had any successes yet but they are determined to create something that works the way it should.

We are definitely seeing a pattern in what Gavin enjoys – he is very artistic and creative. He is our focused boy when it comes to creating art, architecture and other fanciful things. With Zander I am still on the look out for something that truly holds his interest and imagination. I am hoping I can come up with something to strike a passion in him soon!

This afternooon after some workbook time we packed everyone up to do some much needed shopping. With Gavin gone to Grandma’s for Easter weekend our egg hunt and decorating has to be done THIS weekend… along with the boys being a part of the palm procession for Palm Sunday of course. This year I have tried to minimize the candy coming into the house bought by us personally. So all the egg contents we picked up today at Walmart and Dollarama are toys or stickers and the like. If we DO go to someone else’s place for a hunt (which is still a possibility) I think I will pick up something edible for that hunt. We also picked up some egg cups at Walmart that we had the chance to try out at mom’s when we visited last – they were 1.46 and a reusable alternative to dying my good dishes or using disposable cups.

Amazingly enough our Echo is 8 months old today! Where has the time gone? She has been the final piece in our family puzzle. And now is rounding out nicely – a result of our campaign to “make Echo round”… it was originally supposed to be “make Echo fat” but we came to the realization that with our genetics and metabolisms baby fat is not a common occurrence in this family. The combination of fortifier and a proactive “feed her when she squawks” seems to be working REALLY well. We did a little looking around at Walmart for her Easter dress and bonnet but were not overly impressed by the selection, so it looks like we will be making a trip to Winners to hunt some more. (and then Superstore if that doesn’t pan out)

Miss Echo

I have printed off colouring pages with a Palm Sunday theme. I had the boys colour their palm leaves today and tomorrow we will put them on the picture of Jesus on his donkey. I coloured Jesus for them since we are still without our colour toner. I will post pictures tomorrow.

It is hard to believe we are on our way half way through April. There is so much more to be done and my mind feels fractured into a million mini lists. I am hoping that this weekend will give me a chance to get some things done and some lists organized!! Maybe?
