Start of the Weekend

Two very busy days have been gotten through and I have to admit to a rather high level of exhaustion. We started our day early on Friday with my usual doctor’s appointment – weight up 2 lbs to 127.4 (yay!), bloodpressure fine, baby’s heart rate 144 and measuring on track. The doctor was fine with my glucose numbers and happy I had gained. Which puts us with our next appointment in 2 weeks – 36 weeks! Strep test and we start REALLY counting down time to baby! But a good appointment and thankfully a QUICK one.

Waiting for the Doctor (Gavin back)

After that we headed to H&W for our weekly fruit and veg run. Of course the boys had their apple a piece. Still not a great price on them and our tree in the backyard has nothing ready to be eaten. I am dying to get back to making applesauce. Trinity was more than glad to share the left over apple that whichever boy could not quite finish!

Mmm apples!

Friday evening a friend from college (Kathy) came over to visit and stayed until early this afternoon. The kids were very glad to have a visit from another aunty and I stayed up late myself visiting. I only see her 3 or so times a year so an overnight visit was a great treat!

Kathy and Trinity

After Kathy headed off we packed up and went to the baby shower for Baby Anna. I managed to finish off her sampler, nursing necklace and Ken edited and burned the photos we took of her at our mini shoot. I was not able to stay much longer than an hour – just too worn out. But it was nice to visit. I was the lucky one in charge of writing down the gifts. Baby Anna got a wee bit spoiled today I think! While I was doing that Ken took the kids and went to a nearby park (sorry no pictures) where the kids had a blast playing.

The favourite of our images!

The rest of today is earmarked for OUR shower preparations. Cleaning, some baking (for the kids), organizing and list making. I made up my calendar pages for the baby guesses so have discharged MY major responsibility. Decorating and such are set for tomorrow morning as is shopping. BUT that is not my responsibility thankfully!

Our plans are also attempting to include a quick trip to the 7-11 – apparently tomorrow is free slurpees and I figure that is definitely a good treat for the family… well except for me. (can you hear the pouting because I AM) They are just tiny 7.11 oz ones apparently but more than enough for each of this little crowd.

I don’t even want to THINK about the upcoming week… my plan is to enjoy tomorrow and then face Monday on Monday!

Sunday at Home

I made a deal with Ken last night – if I slept in he would get a bunch of the cleaning that has fallen to the wayside done today… so sleep in I did, until almost noon! So we didn’t get much else accomplished in the morning beyond Ken’s cleaning and the kids playing.

We dressed the twins up identically (I know I know BAD parents…but we had a reason) and took some maternity pictures with just our biggest boys. It was actually rather fun, having them be our little models but do they ever need haircuts!! It still surprises me from time to time that my now over 40 lb 6 yr olds were once 3 lbs 1 3/4 oz infants intubated and fed by gavage in isolates. We have come so very far and I am so glad to be beyond that scary first year!

Listening for baby (Zander left)

Identical for the win? (Gavin front)

We had a walk down to the gas station as a family today instead of something more complicated or further away like one of the drop in programs. Nathan had to stop by to pick up some baby stuff we had for them anyway so it was easiest to wait for him to come by and then leave for a walk. (nope no baby visit for us yet, just daddy on his own) Not our finest walk with Emanuel not napping today (for some reason he would not settle and just kept playing in his room), Trinity wanting to walk after half way there until she got TO the store then she demanded re-entry into the wagon to ensure the reception of a treat (smart cookie) and my own flagging energy. But it was worth it, snacks, some energy burned and lovely quality time with Ken… in his new shirt of course!

The new "special treat" - one of the 25cent candies!!

The plan for tomorrow is mainly centred around getting to my appointment on time. I am sincerely hoping I can get some information from my doctor. Well at the very least my glucose results… and the iron… I have a sneaking suspicion that starting now time is going to absolutely fly by. We have chosen our baby shower date (well in advance for the people who need that sort of notice) – July 11th at 3pm, here at the house. We would love for any and all to attend, but if you plan to please let us know so we have numbers. (we are registered at Babies R Us which is linked on the right of this page along with the registry number) I didn’t get a party when pregnant with Trinity or even AFTER she was born so this is exciting and special. Number 5 seems so unreal… so exciting and special and I just want everyone ELSE to be as excited as we are and NOT see our newest addition as simple the FIFTH baby… no this is as exciting as the first two, but hopefully WITHOUT the preemie drama… PLEASE?

Now to get back to work on scrapbooking my last set of photos and ordering the next batch… if I could just get going on the cards as easily…

Let's go Go GO!!!
