A Witch in Time

I have really enjoyed Madelyn Alt’s series featuring “Maggie O’Neill – Stony Mill Indiana’s newest witch”. At this point the love life of Maggie has finally straightened out (of course if you have NOT read the previous books I am not going to let slip WHO the paramour is) as has her understanding that she is a sensitive, empath. This is NOT something that the rest of Stony Mill would smile upon but within the N.I.G.H.T.S paranormal group headed up by Maggie’s boss Liss she has found a group of like minded people.

There is, of course, a murder to solve… but the main mysteries in this book are relationship based. Maggie herself is growing more and more confident in her relationship while a few of the ones around her fall to pieces. There is quite the cast of characters as usual… Maggie’s mother, who is a tough cookie and rather hard to take in large doses, her sister Mel who ends up giving birth to… surprise there too! Don’t forget her feisty Grandpa and her best friend Stef with her boyfriend Dr Dan. Oh the list goes on!

This book is not as heavy on the mystery as previous ones have been but there is so much going on I really didn’t miss it. I would suggest you start this series at the beginning and then read them ALL… the first book is The Trouble With Magic. Follow Maggie as she learns all about her gifts and what they mean to herself and the people around her!

To Kill a Warlock, an Urban Fantasy

And I am back with another first in a H.P. Mallory series. This one featuring Dulcie the Fairy. She is hard working, independent and absolutely a riot. Dulcie the fairy has enhanced speed and fairy dust… which is a really amazing ability I am not going to ruin for you by explaining away. Unlike Jolie from the other series… Dulcie is a rather strong character. She doesn’t waver in her decisions… except perhaps in regards to her ears that are pointed, as she explains, like Spock. Something she does not like.

There is an element of romance, a strong mystery, undercover work.. TWO men in her life – her boss the elf Quillan and the new man in the room – Knight who is a great unknown. Add in other strong male paranormals… a vampire for one who does NOT sparkle, and some nitty gritty crime work and I have to admit this series is much more to my tastes.

Don’t get me wrong there is some gore, people do NOT die pretty and some blatant sexual content… they have to go undercover briefly in an S&M club… but not something that goes on and on and on. The character interactions are varied and entertaining, the supporting characters make you giggle and of course there is Dulcie fighting crime, putting herself on the line and snapping out amazing banter.

If you can handle the more mature elements and like some magic with your crime, check out To Kill a Warlock, the first in the Dulcie O’Neil series.

Demon Hunter and Baby… a Review

Another book another review. This first in a planned series by Anna Elliot is a terrific paranormal series. Aisling is a demon hunting mother of a 9 month old baby whose baby daddy is a Knight of the Templar (talk about a major complication and a big time no no) who works for a water elemental with an office full of characters.

You follow Ainsling as she deals with avoiding her ex, fighting demons, raising her daughter… oh and stopping the fall of the veil and the end of life as she knows it! You begin delving into her past, realize her future is uncertain and her love life a mess… or non-existent, depends on how you look at it.

I absolutely loved this story, the characters and the fast paced action… enter into a world where demons exist, Templar’s have power and hunters work hard for their living. Ainsling is a mother after my own heart – ready to give her all and dedicate herself to her child she is absolutely certain that the best thing that ever happened to her (regardless of the unplanned circumstances) is her darling baby Willow. I am absolutely going to hunt down the second in the series when it is released!!! Be sure to check out Demon Hunter and Babyand add some paranormal mystery in your life.
