A Baby… Shopping… Sunshine… Life

WARNING IMAGE OF SARCASTIC T-SHIRT THAT FOR SOME MAY BE CONSIDERED INAPPROPRIATE TO FOLLOW… YOU HAVE BEEN FOREWARNED!

So I got lazy last night as you can probably tell by the lack of an entry, but I had a good reason – good friends and video games… ok so not a GOOD reason but a decent one? But I get ahead of myself.

Friday was another lovely day, too nice to stay inside and work on school work (trust me I did not even try). Instead I sent all 3 boys out for an extended play session in the backyard where they promptly got into everything mucky from the rain. This ended the intention of taking some maternity photos with the twins for the day (silly mommy expecting matching t-shirts to stay clean long enough to do that!).

Triking like a pro

We waited out the morning and into the afternoon until Karyn made it back from her conference. Talk about excitement not only was Aunty Karyn HERE STILL but she was also along to go to the PARK! We took fruit and veggies, picked up dip and juice boxes and headed back to the park we went to last time we had snacks. What a great way to end the week!

Then as an extended bonus – UNCLE TED came to visit and got roped into lawn care with Ken… so the kids all came out front to supervise…

that is watch for 5 min and then go for a walk with Aunty Karyn down the block to collect sticks. Have I mentioned how much fun they have with Ted and Karyn? It amazes me every time we are able to take advantage of the “aunties and uncles”. It can be so hard with my brother over 3 hours away, step sister in the states, Ken’s family in Minnesota. If it wasn’t for these dear friends it would be a much more lonely existence for our little family. So thank you!! ALL of  you!

Our evening was a restful one with Ted buying pizza (yum! Thanks Ted) and then the guys playing Xbox 360. It was restful and fun, we had a bit of a Twitter war with Ken (Karyn and myself) which made her phone “sing” over and over again as that is where she gets notifications. For some reason this was utterly HILARIOUS to us all.

Oh, Thursday night I got ANOTHER page done – nothing on Friday night but this one turned out rather cute – it is our godson Anthony with Trinity. While visiting in Minnesota we spent quite a bit of time with the Novak family and she and Anthony bonded almost instantly. I am so proud of Anthony, he is a sweetheart!

I used classic Winnie the Pooh paper in behind

Speaking of godchildren! Nathan has officially announced it on Facebook so I will say it here too – we are the proud godparents for a THIRD time – a little girl – Anna born this morning!! I am not sure when the family will be ready to see us so we are awaiting a call.

Anyway… Saturday morning was a bit of a madhouse due to that unexpected phone call right before we were to leave for Michaels and the free Make-it-take-it – a Father’s day book (though the kids did not go that route). A bit of a time consuming craft when you have Emanuel painstakingly making his people on the front, Gavin taking his time on each page and Trinity determined to glue and or write on ALL her book AT ONCE. Zander did his cover and then decided he was done until he got home and of course got bored waiting on the rest of the family but we persevered and ALL had fun!

We got home and were settled in time for Karyn to return from her last part of her Librarian conference and then she and I headed off to The Mall. As a thank you for her being able to stay here she bought Ken and I each a gift… so sweet!!!

We went into a store that was actually (luckily for us) going out of business and was able to get Ken TWO t-shirts for under 20.00… of course sarcastic and a bit rude (you have been warned!!!) but totally KEN.

T-shirts! You were warned!

Then off to Sephora where I went by Karyn’s guidance and got an eyeshadow palette (jungle chic) and a white eyeliner. So now I have to experiment and try out some new and more… outgoing eye make-up!

Thank-you Karyn!!

Of course she couldn’t leave out the kids! Talk about spoiled! BOOKS! Of course Karyn is a pro at picking out books… and she even found one with Arctic Fox information.

BOOKS!

The focus of my afternoon has been  working on my wedding present for the June wedding. I really wish I could share the progress on this one, I am loving how it is turning out… but a bit anxious about how the couple will receive it. I want it to be PERFECT!

I am not sure why but beyond the time with Karyn out and about and my godchild news it has been a relatively (emotionally) crummy day. I am not sure if it is just hormones and pregnancy or the combination of a rough week, some unexpected online conversations and the lack of sleep or what but I have had a bit of an emotional down-swing today. A few weepy moments, some frustration and general ick it is definitely not a good place to be when trying to deal with the kids in a positive manner. Here’s hoping next week and the rest of the month are better. Since my birthday is the 24th and we have a wedding on the 26th, the weekend BEFORE my birthday is my celebratory weekend, the plan is to have everything looming over us dealt with BEFORE then… that is the plan…

Oh as a super special treat for the kids I took the money I made for selling a pattern (special order!) and ordered off eBay a Kai Lan video. I know Trinity and Emanuel are going to be over the moon to have that in the van! So fingers crossed it makes it in great condition and in an expedient manner.

We spent a little time this afternoon watching the ring-tailed lemur video I found at the library – Champions of the Wild: Lemurs by the NFB. Not an overly long video only a little over 25 min but the kids all thought it was GREAT!

Family video time

I think the whole family is a little burned out from a long week. We have been dealing with the weather, some stresses the adults in the family have to deal with as well as just my energy being depleted. So the goal is to take tomorrow to rest up and have fun AT HOME and then start the week fresh, with a dr’s appointment for me (yay team?). Hopefully we can get the photos I want of myself and the twins done as well as some more maternity photos later on in the week (more set up involved this time as Ken wants to use a white board we have as the backdrop and that is in the basement). Those will probably only be posted on my deviantArt account.

Dressing up for Spring!

Zoo… Picnic… Baking = Bliss

And so our first true spring weather Friday was a massive success… Though we were unable to get overly close to the ring-tailed lemurs –  they had a little baby and were put back further in the monkey house for some odd reason… and there was only ONE example of a ring-tailed lemur toy (a stuffed animal – adorable but almost 32.00!! OUCH) everyone got their fill of the zoo and its variety of animals.

You can JUST see the baby back on the ledge

We lucked out and got to be present while the elephant was out on her walk (she is very elderly now and a slow walker but you could tell the handlers adored her!). It was amazing to see how sensitive her feet are – even a little pebble had her stop and use her trunk to remove it.

Getting the stone off her foot

We managed to get some wonderful pictures of the Siberian Tigers. They were actually rather active, walking around their enclosure.

tigers!

My favourite was actually another breed or lemur – the black and white ruffled lemur. Quite the energetic creatures!

After enjoying some cotton candy we headed back to the van to go to our favourite picnic location – the park in the valley. Our first real picnic of the year, we enjoyed the sunshine, green grass and of course the birds. (ok seagulls) I love going on the weekdays – it is so much quieter and safer allowing us to let the kids wander around more.

Yum!

Playing soccer (Gavin left)

Emanuel and Trinity spent some time trying to catch up to some seagulls while the rest of us continued our meals. I almost wonder if they enjoyed that MORE than the zoo!

Chasing the seagull

As the grand finale of our apple lapbook we attempted our very first apple pie entirely from scratch! Crust and all… with our pro Chris to lead the way. Crisco crust recipe and a very basic filling of apples, cinnamon, brown sugar and nutmeg. Pretty fail safe according to Chris.

Total delish!

As an extra ADDED bonus (and since Chris didn’t want to have to pack the food stuffs) we made rice krispie squares!!! One of my favourites!

Mmm Rice Krispies!

So baking, zoo, picnic… a day in the sun and yummy snacks in the belly. Perfect! And it looks like our Saturday will actually be a leisurely one… though the kids are clamouring to get the pool out and ready for action.

Enjoying sun and pregnancy at the same time! (Zander)
