A House Full of Sickies!

This cold has moved from just the little ones to the whole family, this has led to me cancelling my ride to the local crafting ladies get together at Red Robin (/pout). Add to this the total and complete annihilation of the fish in the tank and it has been a bit of a downer day. Runny noses, tired and cranky babies and a house to clean… not the best way to start a week.

I have come to the realization that I LOVE to have half a dozen or more projects set up and ready to go… sitting idly waiting on the next pattern to print out or materials to be bought just rubs me the wrong way. I am hoping to make November my most craft organized and consistent month. I am already finding a nice rhythm with my blog entries (barring weekends away of course), I would love to find the same with my sewing. Of course since I am working WITH Ken this is largely dependant on HIM and his work ethic, which I won’t hesitate to say has become 100% better than it EVER was! Thank goodness for the meds and the doctors – my hubby is pretty much a new man in many respects! The first step will be to get all the threads from the previous projects put away properly. Time consuming but necessary.

I did finish another project… I cannot show the whole piece here until AFTER Christmas but here is a close up of the D20 Ken designed. I am really happy with it though, next time I think I would stitch it on linen to make the stitching a little easier. Ken wants to do up a whole series of the D&D and Magic inspired objects. I am guessing it will be a set done on linen at this rate though.

So with a house full of sickies not much has been accomplished. Ken DID get some sort of a “promise” from the government division he has been fighting with of some resolution for this current application… however for those in the know you will remember this does NOT apply to the previous application that was negatively affected when he had the medical issues. Grrr so MAYBE something positive this week, but knowing the government we are not holding our breath. It does (tentatively) boost the optimism though which is much needed.

Ken ended up having to spend his spare time at the pet-store with a sample of water from the tank and the body of the catfish purchased a little over a week ago. Apparently our water was fine – so it looks like the problem may have originated with the newest fish. Talk about OUCH – total fish annihilation! But we will not know for sure until tomorrow when the store’s fish guru takes a peek. This set back our Halloween lapbook plans (not that any of the kids were overly motivated) though the boys got in some drawing time with pictures of Saturday evening’s trick or treating and with Ken started a belated Halloween craft with some of the supplies we were gifted – a bat. I plan on using the orange paint that was in the package with some foam shaped stamps to further decorate the lapbooks. Tomorrow I plan on completing the Halloween stuff and Ken the Insects with the intent of focusing on Fall fun and maybe getting into Canada! Big ambitions!

So a bit of a let down after a wonderful weekend but we do have the rest of the week to recoup! With things like a trip to H&W to look forward to and weather that may allow us to go for a nature hike on Friday I am sure we will do so!
