The Newest Dragon Age Widow Speaking…

Being unable to spend when you want always “hurts” the most when there is a sale – being a glutton for punishment I signed up for the emails from Perler beads… so what do I find in my inbox this morning? A 15% off all Christmas ornament kits (regularly 2.99 US a piece) not so bad until this afternoon when they sent out a sale correction – not 15% off but 25% off!! OUCH! With the special Christmas shaped peg boards and everything… le sigh. So for those of you who have some mad money and are interested in beading be sure to check out the site and be sure to input their coupon code listed at the top of the page!

Our weekly jaunt to H&W was quite lucrative. Spending only 10.28 we managed to  get vine tomatoes, 3 kiwis, apples, bananas and BC pears. We are still swimming in potatoes with my lack of time to make them into something as well as a nice big bag of carrots. So not quite the fruit salad I was hoping on (melons were over 2.00 a piece) but definitely a lovely assortment and enough bananas to try out my drink mix I bought last week and maybe make a batch of muffins or bread. Mmm…

I finally got around to making my fizzy gifts… this is a neat idea a homeschool mom alerted me to. Here is the actual link she linked me. I did change the recipe a bit – 4 tbsp of water makes soup so play around with the amount a bit. For a first attempt I have used erasers I picked up when school supplies came out for the boys for Christmas… I wrapped them first in plastic wrap since they have holes for pencils but I think it would be easier to do without the wrap. The next batch will be dinosaurs for the nephew and boys when we go to mom’s for Christmas… Ken is going to help me with those.

Apparently one of my favourite cross stitch designers is quitting – Teresa Wentzler (if you check my pictures of finished pieces the dragon piece is one of hers). Apparently stuff will still be for sale on an online distributor as long as they care to carry them. But no more new stuff… sad!!! Check out her site for further details.

We spent the majority of our day working on putting together the Halloween lapbooks… the majority of these books is colouring and illustrations but we also have some dot to dots, beading projects and each of the twins did a number worksheet. I am hoping to have pictures and links tomorrow when the outside covers are done. It will be A LOT easier to put one together in a shorter period of time when we have the cash to purchase coloured folders… of course you can’t complain about free and the beige ones were that!

So all our Halloween decorations are put away. All that is left are our fall leaves and the need to find time to put our twig in its clay pot and florist’s foam and attach the leaves I have been making out of Perler beads. I would have loved to make some of the bigger ones they have patterns for but am not in possession of the needed large hexagon peg board. So the month of November will be our month of fall… then December right into Christmas and winter. I am not sure how big our Christmas lapbook will get – there seems to be a ton of resources online (many that cost and some that cost A LOT)… I do want to do as much as possible as Christmas has always been a favourite holiday of mine!

I have started work on a new stitch – since this one is a logo it will be posted up under freebies on my site later… not much to see yet, but I am hoping it will be recognizable when it is completed. I am debating how I want to release it as with the addition of a maple leaf Ken has also added a quarter stitch which is piddly on aida and I don’t want to restitch it on linen (I simply do not have extra pieces of linen sadly). We shall see.

So with Ken and his new game I am pretty sure I will become a Dragon Age widow for a while. Oh well, he hasn’t had a new game in so long and he does enjoy them so. He got the opportunity to play test it before release and went on and on about it so I am glad that friends made it possible for him to play it on release! But still…. wish ME luck!
