Baby Shower, VBS and Crafting

What a capper to the weekend! Our Baby Shower was a great success. We had great food, lovely guests, a craft AND a great visit. I could not have asked for more. But that was not until the afternoon…

We STARTED our day with a run to 7-11 for the 7.11 oz free slurpee promotion (since the date was July 11th – or 7, 11). The kids were beyond excited, even Trinity knew right where to run with their little cup. Probably NOT the best choice for our little girl BUT it was a small slurpee and a VERY special treat. 3 of the kids got blue slurpees (either bubble gum or blue cherry) and the 4th a new flavour – pomegranate. We had to cut down Trinity’s straw since they didn’t have any shortened ones for the tiny cups but she drank every drop.

Happy kids! (Gavin left)

After slurpees Ken headed out for his final set of errands and Karyn and I were left to tidy and plan and prepare for the party. The special event for our shower was the creation of Karyn – each person who wanted to was asked to make 8X8 scrapbook pages – either to stand alone or have a picture added to later, for the baby. Karyn and I pooled our resources and had a nice selection of everything from paper to stamps to cutting systems (ie. Karyn’s Cricut) and more. The pages that resulted are absolutely AMAZING, though two people need to come back and work on theirs more eventually.

Hoping to post pictures of pages tomorrow!

Alan and Xinny brought their two kids and so all 6 of them were outside having a blast in the tent, the playset and the pool. Poor Trinity got a bit of hair hooked on the tent and pulled some out of her head but didn’t even cry, just came for hugs and snuggles and then back out. We really lucked out with the weather as today has been rainy and cool.

Hard to see past the tent but they had a blast in the yard

Taking a break with Grandma

We were given some wonderful gifts… clothes, toys, a hand made blanket (Karyn) and even an umbrella stroller. I am already working on the thankĀ  you cards, after all Karyn left her craft supplies HERE so I have the Cricut at my disposal!

The afghan... Thank you everyone!

Today with the twins at VBS Emanuel and I sat down and made good use of the toys that are still out and made him his very own 8X8 scrapbook page. My plan is to do one a day while the big boys are gone so that he ends up with 4 special pages. Today’s theme – ELEPHANT and BLUE.

Trinity was right there getting her own cut out shapes and playing with a couple stickers… we had to cut her out a monkey. But really she lost interest quite quickly and was much too busy running around, watching the rain and playing in the livingroom.

Trinity at work!

Oh that reminds me of another mini milestone in Trinity’s life. For some reason yesterday she decided she wanted to start sitting on the potty… not a little potty but the toilet like the big boys! She got very excited and said POTTY POTTY so we put her up there… far from consistent and no results but a definite start!

On the Potty!!!

We have so much to do to get the house back to where I want it… a lot of stuff was stowed in bedrooms to make extra space and now I am ready to get us sorted for “the big move”… the twins are heading into the basement (which COULD blow up in our faces but we need Trinity moved out before the baby arrives). Thankfully the bulk of our schooling plan for the week falls in the lap of VBS and then working with each boy to make a part of their gift for their Cousin Jimmie… so I don’t have to clean off the kitchen table (ok ulterior motive!) and the kids are loving sitting around the little blue table for meals anyway.

So now after a busy weekend I feel a little less than motivated BUT I feel like we have done good. The kids are happy, Ken is happy… my health seems pretty under control. We CAN do this!

Crafty moment last night!

Not sure where this page will go but the sparkly paper, the Cricut... a found wallet... could not stop myself...
