Day One of VBS

First off I should mention that you can read all about Fat Sheep and Petite Sheepette’s version of the wedding activities this past weekend on the Fat Sheep blog. Today has been a wedding BLACK OUT day… in fact the only craft activities I have allowed myself to do are Echo activities. After all I have her first birthday party right around the corner! (I am so glad her genetics appointment and surgery are AFTER that day…) More about that later… today was a big day for our 3 boys…

Today was their first session of VBS here at their new church. We had a bit of a hurried start as I had set MYSELF an alarm that gave me plenty of time to get everything I need to do done. BUT Ken had left the last load of stuff from the old place in the van (we didn’t used the van all weekend after all…) and Sean’s truck was blocking (he and Ted stayed another night). Add to that breakfast and it was go go go. We are so not used to having to be up and organized in the early morning. They were all VERY excited about going. Ken was planning on registering them and then heading out but Emanuel was a little less than confident about being there without Daddy. So Ken found an internet connection and stuck around. Hopefully later in the week Ken can just drop them off as the special treat for Trinity for the week is breakfast at McDonalds.

Registered and ready for fun

What did Mommy and the girls do? Well, besides try and stay somewhat quiet (Sean was up but Ted asleep in the basement) we also cleaned Trinity’s room. I figured it was as good a time as any to go through all her toys that had been dumped and sort them back to where they go. She absolutely loves it when her room is all clean and organized she just doesn’t have the interest or attention span to do it herself.

All tidy, just need to vacuum

Then with a clean room she wanted her hair done… Trinity’s choice of course. For some reason the purse ribbon barrette is the current favourite (and the bane of my existence as I made it with the clip backwards to what I usually use as a lefty) and pictures HAD TO BE taken standing on the bed. I have to admit both Trinity and I were BORED without the boys…

Purty

Because the boys have the 5 days of Bible School I figured they would put their foot down in regards to schooling here at home. BUT we did do a sheet for our Summer Adventures folder. Each of them wrote down something about their morning and drew a picture. I figure 5 days, 5 pictures.

Day 1

The craft of the morning/early afternoon was creating the bulk of Echo’s birthday party decorations. The last two of  Trinity’s birthday parties I have borrowed Karyn’s Cricut and made die cuts to hang instead of streamers. In April it was Hello Kitty if you remember, the year before tea cups and tea pots. This time we are going more funky with purple and black colours and then things like locks and keys, butterflies, diamonds, skulls and crossbones… just fun stuff… I am rather sure I do NOT have enough purple to accomplish it all without a run to Michaels but I would only need to buy one or two sheets to round it out. I am going to have to watch for sales and start rebuilding my colours of plain cardstock I think. We are still without the much needed white (I needed to do some price checking first) though I did pick up a 12X12 to cut down for the end of the Trumpet of the Swan book.

Assembled decorations

Supper was on Ted and Sean and a VERY yummy order of Chinese food… though Trinity did NOT trust it. We got a decent amount with our dinner for 6 plus bbq pork fried rice from a place called Red Star. I texted Karyn and asked her advice since I knew she had at least one restaurant here in town she would suggest. I love that they decided to stay as late as they could, Ken has missed them both and while our life here is great and full of social moments  Ted and Sean are dear friends and sorely missed. In fact, the boys had to tell Ted he needed to move here since we can’t see him all the time.

Gaming with an audience

A fortune

Trinity has taken to drawing people… at least she TELLS me they are people… She even drew in our glasses… and my necklace… Karyn was on the left and Kristen on the right… Trinity 2nd from left and myself 3rd.

A little artist

It was a difficult bedtime for all involved tonight. Too much excitement, sunshine in the windows (we are working on doing a temporary measure for curtains til we have more room in the budget for proper rods and brackets) and saying good bye to the last of our houseguests. But we managed to get them all into their rooms by 8… well for the most part. That leaves me time to post blog, finish gluing the die cuts AND go downstairs and attempt to complete Echo’s tutu dress… wish me luck!
