Winter Wonderland

Winter is STILL here… we had a snowfall warning last night and it is still snowing today. Lots of the fluffy white stuff laying on top of a layer of slippery ice. We are definately going to have to get some new tires on the van before our trip to the city in a week or so.
Last night Ken and I watched Howl’s Moving Castle… It was so funny. I think my favorite Miyazaki film is still Spirited Away. We have also seen Kiki’s Delivery Service, Nausicaa, Castle in the Sky and Princess Mononoke… I would have to say Princess Mononoke was my least favorite. The next one I would love to get my hands on is Whisper of the Heart or The Cat Returns. So I now have a minor dilemma – we only borrowed HMC so I can either buy that DVD or get Cinderella which I am pretty sure is going back into "the vault". If only I could buy EVERY movie I want hehe. Add to that the Lady and the Tramp coming out this month as well… so many movies.
Anyway, today was snow, snow and more snow. We did invite my mother over to visit for a while and then watch the twins for 30 min or so so we could run out to the store to get some things. Until the weather improves getting all 5 of us into the van and out to do chores is a chore in and of itself. Oh to have clean sidewalks so I could take out the strollers. I had bought a Maya Adjustable Pouch from a wonderful vendor on eBay…but it just does not seem to sit well on my frame… well this wonderful lady has offered to exchange it for the sling version of which I am getting the Chambray Blue. Ken sent off the pouch yesterday and once she receives it back she will ship the sling. Since Emanuel loves being held and carried so much it will definately be a life saver.
I am on the road to recovery health wise. The sore throat is gone leaving me with a stuffy nose and feeling lethargic. Thank goodness for Motrin at bedtime and lots of warm baths with the boys’ vapour bath. I love the Gerber baby products, so nice on the skin and lovely scents. We use their shampoo on the big boys all the time. One bottle seems to last FOREVER.
Wow beyond "Mommy stuff" things are going rather slowly for me.. I have taken up cross stitching again and for once for ME! I am doing a Teresa Wenzler pattern called Rapunzel. Lots of work but it is really shaping up. Not sure when I will be able to frame it or even if I will keep it for myself in the end… who knows maybe the perfect occassion will come up connected to someone who will absolutely treasure it. I still owe Ken a Monopoly board – poor guy has been waiting for years. I had ordered linen in the right size but it turned out to be the wrong colour and is now to be used for Christmas presents that I hope to start soon.
This is also the 2 year anniversary of the day the boys were brought home from the hospital.. hard to believe that they were once 4 and 5 lbs and we were trusted to bring them home! Cordless babies as Ken put it, and today they are around 30 lbs a piece and active and loud and so grown up. What miracles they are.. even in their "bad" moments they are two of the best things to ever come into my life.
Ken and I were talking in the van today – I remember back in college how I was worried about money and we were sure we needed to work towards that large paycheque… when I look back the happiest moments in my life had nothing to do with money. There is nothing to beat the moments after Emanuel was born. That pure joy of welcoming our newest child into our lives. That is one of the reasons why I think his name is so appropriate – he is a constant reminder that God IS with us!
And on that note… here is our St. Patricks Day picture – our 3 boys in green. Enjoy!
