Good Bye April, Hello May

Crummy weather for our last day of April… the month ended much as it started, dark and rather cool. At least no one was in the hospital.
Esther came by again today to say good-bye on her way back to Calgary. It is funny how after she visits I feel more lonely than before – not for long but it is definately a distinct change in mood. I guess I just really miss our college group… it is not that I do not enjoy my time with other mothers but it is a different dynamic. We talk about different things, reminisce, explore different ideas… it is nice. I miss using that part of my brain I used in school – learning all those abstract concepts in philosophy and discussing all the religious aspects of life. Funny hoe you never treasure such moments until they are in the past.
Well tomorrow is our first Monday Twin Group meeting. I am looking forward to getting the boys out to play with the kids. My mom has managed to find a way to get the afternoon off on the 11th so we do not have to take the twins to the city when we go to get Emanuel’s incision sites checked out by the surgeon. So the month IS looking up.
This coming Friday we are going in to get Emanuel weighed and check his length for his 3 month measurements. I still cannot believe it has been 3 months. Our third miracle
We did not manage to get the whole apartment clean though Ken did rearrange the livingroom and get it so there is no longer a fear of the boys clipping eachother’s fingers in the sliding glass door. So over the week we will work on the diningroom/kitchen. I just want to get the rooms the boys DO NOT play in as clean and controlled as possible. Ken even managed to give the boys a corner for all their toys and then have all of Emanuel’s toys and things near the tv in the opposite side of the room. It has meant shrinking his "pc cage" though.
Well good-bye April hello May.. hopefully a more ummm restful month.

A Visit From Esther and Other Little Joys

Well the weekend is actually off to a good start. We went out to Walmart and shopped, bathed the baby, had a nap (yippee) and even had ESTHER come visit from Calgary! We did not make it out for a walk today, though we took out the new backpack carrier yesterday (Friday) and walked to 7-11. I just cannot give up my slurpees
Tomorrow we are going to TRY and get the diningroom/kitchen cleaned up and get the whole family out for a walk. We had the upstairs and downstairs apartments move out this weekend so the boys can fuss all they want and no one will complain so we are being toughies about sleep rules. In fact, Friday afternoon Gavin got OUT of his CRIB !! YIKES !! he feel on his way down right next to the door so I had trouble getting into the bedroom. I had to call Ken and get him to come home and help me calm the family down. So we definately need to get another room to put toys in.
I cannot belive how fast time is passing. Emanuel is 3 months old on the 3rd – we are going on Friday to the weigh in to get his weight and length. I am a little nervous about that – I know he is gaining but I am not sure I want to know how much – feels like he is growing up too fast. LOL I guess that is cuz "normal" to us is 10 week preemies. Normalcy for us is certainly NOT full term. My doctor joked after Emanuel was born that we need to do this one more time to really enjoy the feeling of "normal" hehe. i think we will take her up on that one… eventually.
Well no more appointments this week, more the following and then again in June (a check-up for Emanuel)… I am hoping we are seeing the end of them. I am tired of doctors and tests and more questions than answers. I will do what is best for the boys but still – I want a quiet week of healthy kids. Right now that feels like an impossibility right now.
You know though, in the grand scheme of things I am very blessed – 3 lovely boys, a loving husband who went and got an answer out of Family Allowance (yay)… a roof over our head and food in our bellies. Blessings a plenty.

Jumping Kangaroos

Home safe and sound. Poor Zander was so upset that they knocked him out with gas BEFORE they gave him the IV and when he woke up he refused to even sit down for the nurses – he screamed and fussed until Ken got in there. Poor little man was off kilter for the rest of the day. When we got home everyone except me (of course) got a nice nap – I had to stay up with Emanuel who was fussy after so long in the carseat off and on. Early to bed tonight for the twins.
We did make it to Toys’R’Us and got the Jumperoo, a backpack carrier that does hip and chest and some more clothes for Emanuel. Pricey but we so rarely need to buy him big ticket items. We put him in the Jumperoo – a little big but so cute to see him in and he seems to like it.
I did not find any shorts at Old Navy – most of what they had just did not appeal to me. I did find a pair of khakis with a design down one leg and a nice blue tank top. We even made it to the craft stre Michaels where I ran in and got some paper for my scrapbook.
It is good to be home… and the weekend creeping up. Hopefully we will have some pleasant weather so we can get out walking and try out that new carrier. It carries from 7-35 lbs so we can even use if for the boys!
