Postal Excitement

After the salt in the wound Monday and a further frustrating Tuesday, a calm Wednesday what is next… a mail extravaganza Thursday! That’s right – 2 – count them TWO packages arrived for yours truly. Well for the family but in MY name which is always a bit of a buzz.

first off a little box from (I am assuming) warm and sunny South Carolina and my dad and his family. Lovely goodies for the kids, including some always needed and appreciated SCHOOL SUPPLIES. I look forward to sending Ken and the boys out on the nature trails Tree book in hand. I even dug out the baby carrier that is more structured for a toddler so Ken can wear Trinity on his back and bring her along for the fun (after all my peapod wrap is just too… something… for Ken to even deign to use!).

South Carolina Package

The second package was another surprise (though I knew SOMETHING was coming) from a lovely lady in the US who I met through cross stitch egroups. A (I think) retired teacher she send us stacks of educational cds full of games and music and such that Ken is VERY excited about going through. Trinity on the other hand went WILD over the teddy bears. Her bear of choice to hang out with her dollies – the little teddy with a flower hat. This lovely gift has me planning a weekly cd night with Daddy for the boys. In fact, my goal is in the next couple years get the boys literate enough to start their own heavily passworded blogs. That will coincide with the year we use some of our homeschooling grant money to purchase a computer for them.

Bears and CDs

Speaking of homeschooling, today was a continuation of our 5 Senses lapbook… working on the concept of what each sense is done with – eyes to see etc. etc.

Apples were tasted, enjoyed and discussed… I do believe there will be a delicious apple pie in our future, our not too distant one in fact!

Apples in variety

The Tasting (Gavin)

I have started a new stitching project. This one is tailored to a little girl who was ALSO born in February only a year before our twins. I have based it on a stamp from Stampin’ Up so I do not think I can put it up for purchase or anything after the fact. It will all be done in a black-work style on a piece of my ecru aida cloth. A completed picture will be posted once it is received.

A little over half done

Speaking of received pieces! Another commission I did that is an altered version of a previous Christmas gift to my mom was received today so I can FINALLY post up a picture of it. Unframed but I hope to get a picture once they do so. The change is in the band of backstitching across the back – seashells instead of hearts!

Completed and Received!

I got a page scrapbooked last night as well… Trinity’s first go at painting with a paint brush. Including the finished art piece of course! Ken picked up my photos I ordered for further scrapbooking – 3 more pages worth.

First painting with a brush

Mother’s Day is mere days away and the God-mother cards are sitting on the counter in need of delivery. It looks like a few will be late! Saturday is another free Michaels activity and Sunday the last session Sunday School before the twins’ party. After Sunday School is over we plan on taking full advantage of a variety of the city’s drop in Sunday sessions. The plan is to keep busy and UNDER budget for much of the summer… though I have to admit a certain amount of excitement in regards to what will be my 31st birthday in June. I have “plans”.

Brownies and milk for desert!
