A Moment of Peace

Finally a few moments to myself to catch up… It was a hectic weekend coupled with a crazy few days. Monday went well for Ken in the new office – lots of meetings and such but he is happy and comfortable there. He didn’t get home til after 7pm and by that point *I* was in tears for the boys not listening and an early morning. Sunday night I had to tear the twins room apart at 10 am trying to find one of their brand new sun hats which I did NOT find and in the process of moving their now large and heavy bed hurt my foot on the vent. Monday morning grandma came over and let me have a bath before we were off downtown to wander around. We stopped at Wiseman’s Way (a Christian bookstore) and I got the boys a new Veggie Tales music cd of toddler songs. Then off to Subway for lunch, a quick walk through the dollar store and home. Quite the busy morning.
Tuesday started off badly – Ken decided NOT to go to bed when I did the night before and instead went and lay down on the floor in the livingroom to watch Heroes. He fell asleep of course and when at 5 am ish when the baby woke up and cried jumped up to go and deal with him and stepped on some toy cars and rolled his foot badly (not the one he had broken the toe on either). Instead of going straight to the hospital he went to bed so in the morning he was off to emerg. So much for my planned bath and being out the door after leisurely preparation. They did x-rays and nothing is broken he just burst some blood vessels and possibly sprained it. So guess who had to do all the carrying and rushing and errands? ME I ran into Walmart and got him a tension bandage.. suggested crutches but Ken did not agree with me til we got out of town. MEN so we picked up a pair at a drugstore in the town we are looking at rentals in. Speaking of which no rental yet but we got on a list for condos. Staying optimistic.
We had lunch at Taco Bell and then stopped in at Ken’s new office and said hi… then to the children’s hospital for Zander’s EEG and then neurology appointment where he has been given the ALL CLEAR!! Brain waves were fine… so the plan is to have him on the meds at his current dosage for 6 months to so he can grow out of it a little more and then go down 2 mls every 2 weeks so from 6 twice a day to 5 then 4 etc. Wonderful news!
I did manage to make it to Michaels and pick up some cross stitching supplies and a couple of scrapbooking pages before we went to Swiss Chalet with Karyn for dinner. The twins behaved worse than normal all day of course since daddy could do little more than drive the van… I tell you I was WORN OUT by the end of the day! I told Ken he just HAD TO get injured to show me up… I hurt my foot he needs to hurt his more. At least he got a chuckle out of that!
Today went pretty well until this afternoon when during naptime Gavin was sitting for an hour holding his ear and crying. I called my mom and she was able to come get him and take him to the walk in with its new early start time of 2pm – thank goodness!! Even with a car and all it would have been rough – Emanuel is asleep and Zander in a mood. I am going to miss having mom within helping distance when we finally find a new place! What a week for medical!!! In the morning we walked the block or so to drop our two pieces of mail in the box – the boys loved it! Lots of trees and houses and cars and trucks and even a puppy in a window. Took is about 20-25 min there and back and was too chilly for chalk on the sidewalk. Emanuel had the seat of honour in the umbrella stroller and was able to look all over the place too. We did it without harnesses since there is only one residential street we need to cross – they just held onto the stroller when we did.
So today is grocery day and Ken is on crutches… at least last night he was able to get the twins’ carseats into mom’s car so we are not waiting on him to get home to take the boys to her house. This way I can have dinner ready for him when he gets home and then we can eat and then go out and do chores. I need to go to Staples to get some stuff photocopied for making Mother’s Day cards – I am pretty sure they are open til 9… and then food. Ken is going to have to sit at the coffee area and leave it up to me, I also have to load them into the van, put the  baby in and out of the van, get the groceries into the house, get them unpacked and get the baby into the house… he so owes me noodle house take out *I* think! What a royal pain. But at least he can still work and drive.
So life is definately changing! And fast!
